Easy to open package and the plugs came right out for me no stickiness or anything. Smells yummy and i can tell birds have been nibbling at it in the short time I've had it outside. No issues with putting it into the bird feeder. Just push it on through. I just hope I can catch when birds are nibbling away soon!
I had never seem this type of suet previously. I had only saw the square suit blocks I also had not seen the feeder they slide in to. But these are absolutely amazing. You get 4 suet rolls, which slide into the suet feeders these are especially made for. I am not sure if there are other varieties or flavors but this particular one is called Peanut Delight. I love the fact that it has a fancy inviting name. The birds in my yard absolutely love this. It has an appealing scent even to me. And I assume the birds like it as well because they have had my feeder covered up since I put it in the yard. This says no melt and for now I have to trust that is true. It is cold so I don't don't think that would be an option. I have used suet blocks before and have never had any issue with any melting even in the hot summer months and it can get in the upper 90s or even 100 in my area. These suets slide easily in to the feeder ( have included a picture of the feeder that these fit in to) but I would suggest taking the feeder outside to insert the suet plugs because it can be a bit messy and get crumbles on the floor. I would recommend this to anyone who likes to feed the birds. The feed seems to be inviting and tasty. I will also purchase this again in the future. I am sure I will be expected to keep the Front Porch Diner fully stocked! Also can't wait to see if there other varieties of plugs. I think it would be fun to stock my plug feeder with different varieties as I have 4 spaces in the feeder. I love watching the birds and being able to feed them.
These suet plugs have a round design and fit perfectly into the Pennington Cedar Wild Bird Suet Plug Feeder. They are virtually mess free when I put them into the feeder. They hold up well in the weather. The little birds in my yard seem to enjoy this suet mixture immensely. I have not seen any big birds eating feeding on it. These plugs are very convenient to use. I like that they are made in the USA of high quality ingredients. Bird watching out my kitchen window is one of my favorite things to do. Providing the wild birds in my yard a treat, especially in the Winter is something I like doing. These suet plugs make that easy to accomplish.
I have a new best friend in my yard to feed the birds and it doesn't get any easier to use than the suet plugs, just slide them into the holes and in less than 15 seconds it's ready to go! I think this will be the new way to use the salt feeders from now on because it is so much easier to use the plugs then trying to squeeze those big squares into the wire cages which is very messy. My birdies are flocking to the feeders, and I get more diverse birds than usual. Do you plugs came in a set of four which is exactly what my cedar salt plug feeder requires. I can see from the birds eating the suet plugs that the plugs remain strong but not too strong so the birds can eat the suet with ease.
Super easy to use. Just take them out of the package and pluck them into the bird feeder. They're soft, but firm. The birds in my yard seem to love them and we enjoy seeing them come to eat it! I haven't noticed any bees or wasps around it, so that's good.
We got this 4-piece suet plug set to go with our corresponding 4-hole suet feeder (see separate review). The package advertises melt free and it seemed to do fine holding up in regular temps but we appreciated the advice to throw the plugs in the freezer for a few minutes to harden them before inserting into the holes in the feeder. It went fine. The birds have been lightly pecking at the peanut mix. Took them a few days to find the plugs so we put some sunflower seeds in the compartments to attract them. Once they saw the seeds, they figured out how to peck the suet.
Easy to load, and less messy than the bird seed type. They hold up better than I thought after the birds began to feed. it breaks down but stays in the allotted space if the birds keep picking it in one spot splitting the plug in half. At least in my feeder, some may be different? They also seem to stand up to rain, but there hasn't been any torrential downpours since I put it up.
Due to the fact that it's not even near ready for Spring where I am located, I haven't had a chance to actually use them yet. I am pretty sure though that they will be a most welcome sight to all my birds that come around. I live in 54 acres of woods. Honestly though, they arrived packaged great so they will be a nice addition to the Pennington Cedar Wild Bird Suet Plug Feeder I received at the same time.
They fit perfectly in the birdfeeder. The smell is nice and delicious. The birds I have been walking to it they really seem to enjoy it. At this point I'm not sure how long the set will last with the many birds it has attracted. Squirrels seem to like it also which was not a surprise to me.
I like the idea if a preformed "cartridge." Unfortunately, not so visually attractive to birds looking for seeds (I used to throw seeds out for them in various places around my property.) These were a touch too big for the mated feeder, but soft enough to push in.
