This is candy to Woodpeckers, Flickers and other birds. The recipe has changed from the original. Peanuts have now taken the number one listing after beef suet. Previously, Pecans had that spot followed by a mixture of other true nuts. Although the ingredients have been watered down, this product still attracts the birds. .

I should really let Woody Woodpecker write this review: "I can't get enough of this stuff!" Every bird in the neighborhood is addicted. They only return to regular bird seed when the suet is gone. The only negative is I have to refill the suet feeders every other day. On the plus side, squirrels can't get at it.

Our woodpeckers love this suet ! Have bought others but this is definitely their favorite. We love watching them getting some up the tree to feed their young.

This suet is so chock full of seeds, corn, peanuts and fruits that woodpeckers, catbirds, blue jays, cardinals, towhees, purple finches, even orioles make quick work of it. It is expensive, but it's the gold standard.

Like that there are 10 packages of suet; I keep them in the refrigerator. So far, no woodpeckers, but when they discover this feast, they will love it.

I go through a lot of suet, 5 cakes a day in the winter and 3 for the rest of the year. They are hung in the morning and are gone by late afternoon. I live in a heavily wooded area with a lot of woodpeckers... red bellied, downy, hairy, red headed and northern flickers. Additionally a host of smaller songbirds like Carolina wrens, chickadees and nuthatch that enjoy suet as well. These cakes were not terribly popular with anyone except for the downy woodpeckers which any birder knows, will hop over a bowl of deluxe nuts to get to even the poorest quality suet-they love suet that much. I used the whole pack but most the cakes hung for 3 or 4 days before they were eaten. I just kept one cake on a cage the squirrels frequent and had to hang my usual brand in the other cages. Another note, this suet is very soft. It holds up well only to about 70-75 degrees then it collapses and falls out of the cages in chunks.

I put three of these suet cakes out in my yard about 2 weeks ago and today I finally saw a bird on one of them this morning. As I write this I see another one now, so maybe word will get around. I have a large bird bath that birds come to everyday.
