My husband and I like very different types of coffee in the morning. I like mild smooth coffee and he likes dark, almost bitterly strong coffee. Obviously, we had a problem! The solution was two different coffeemakers which we've been using for years until my husband broke the glass carafe for his coffeemaker. After researching and reading reviews, I bought this one for him. It makes his two cups of coffee every morning, and it will never break! We've had it a few weeks now, and it's working out perfectly--just sitting there making his coffee quietly and quickly every morning. Great little coffee pot!
I purchased a refurbished Cuisinart 4-Cup Coffeemaker with Stainless Carafe several years ago and I'm still using it. This coffee make makes a good cup of coffee because it uses cone shape filters. I prefer Gevalia brand of coffee. It is available at Walmart. I recently purchased a Cuisinart gold coffee filter and it works well. I understand some of the frustrations other reviewers wrote about. Here is how I overcome some of the issues. After the coffee is done brewing I remove the lid from the carafe and then pour. I make sure the carafe is slid in place on the burner so that the valve at the bottom of the coffee filter holder is up. This will help avoid the filter filling up with water and making a mess. This is a common problem on pause and serve coffee makers. I personalty make enough coffee for the serving desired and then turn off the coffee maker.
Before purchasing, I read reviews... Negatives : 30 minute shutoff not long enough, pot dripped coffee everywhere... etc. I'm glad I ignored the negative reviews and focussed on the many positive ones. Good coffee should never sit more than 20 minutes on a burner so the 30 min shutoff is not only a good safety feature but a coffee-flavour-saver as well. If you snap the lid in place, it pours neatly and perfectly. This coffee maker uses a cone filter system, which is superior to a flat basket system. A permanent metal filter can be purchased separately. It's one of the last great coffee makers of its type. That is a shame because it really makes a superior cup of coffee. I have nothing but positive comments about it and no regrets for purchasing it.
Bought this for my mother who was not happy with a cheap 8-cup model from another manufacturer. She says this one makes better coffee, doesn't leak or drip, and takes up very little counter space. I like the auto-shutoff feature because she was always forgetting to turn her other ones off, which I always thought was hazardous.
I love this little coffee maker! It makes the exact amount of coffee I drink in the morning, two large mugs. It's quick, easy to use, and the coffee is delicious. I especially like the pause-pour feature and the auto shutoff. I have been known to leave coffeemakers on . . . This replaces a perfectly good 14-cup Cuisinart coffee maker with a glass carafe and lots of bells and whistles. I'm giving that one to my daughter and her husband. Now that I live on my own in a small apartment, I wanted one that took up less space but still did the job. I trust Cuisinart and have many of your products. Thank you for an excellent product!
Bought this for a mini camper toy hauler ice fishing shanty I built. Low wattage so I could use a generator, this makes the hotest coffee ever, awesome little machine. Stainless steel so it won't break.and filters are cheap.also used to heat water for oatmeal and hot chocolate, easy 2 clean and store
I do like this Coffeemaker. I was concerned that the coffee may have an Steel taste, but tastes good. My major concern is that the pot can be a bit tricky getting the lid on and making sure it is secure. Also, the filter lid has to be firmly closed or the coffee won't brew correctly. Overall, it is a good machine, ideal for one to two people. This is the second time I have purchased this product and went out of my way to make sure I could purchase another when I needed a new one. I would recommend this product. As a suggestion, it would be great to get a similar product that could brew at an even higher temperature.
Since this was introduced I have purchased four units. One just died after using it several years. I replaced the second unit because the steel hot plate just rusted out. I recommend two improvements: 1. Replace the steel hot plate where we place the carafe with a stainless steel one to avoid the rusting. 2. The small “arrow “ plastic piece you have in the carafe to keep the lid in place is very sharp and hurts the finger during washing. Please round it. It looks like the fellow who came with the idea never washed the carafe. Any comments re: my suggestions? Regards. Priyanath
Cuisinart seems to be the only ones making a small 4 cup coffee maker these days and this one is good. Except the carafe. Whether the stock stainless steel one, or the glass version (I prefer glass), it is the drippiest coffee pot I've ever encountered. I think the spout doesn't have enough curl or depth. A slight change to the spout would make this unit a much better appliance. Maybe an insulated pot would be a good idea too. This coffee maker does make a great cup of coffee if you do your part (quality coffee & filtered water) - just keep a rag handy!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The coffee maker itself works well and makes a good pot of coffee. I like that it automatically shuts off and is fairly fast brewing. The problem is in the carafe itself. This is my second Cuisinart 4 cup brewer ( since I liked the coffee maker itself I thought I would give it another try) and BOTH have the same issue! My first was the glass carafe and so this time I went with the stainless carafe, hoping for a better outcome. No such luck. BOTH of the carafes drip and leak when you pour them. It drips when I pour the water into the coffee maker and again when I try and pour the coffee into my mug. I am constantly wiping my counter from dripped water and coffee. Very discouraging. Guess Ill have to find another manufacturers carafe that will work with my Cuisinart.
