Super sturdy. Perfect for smash burger!
This Cast Iron Smashed Burger Press is 5 stars for me but not for everyone. I divided my one pound square pack of grass fed hamburger meat into 4 pieces with a knife and flattened it onto my griddle evenly, and without the meat falling apart at the edges. Amazed. This is unlike doing a patty by hand and continually going around the edges of the patty with your fingers to make sure the meat it together well around the edges so I won't all apart. I did not chance that the meat would stick to the inside of the Burger Press by tearing off an 8 inch strip of waxed paper which, I placed between the meat and the inside of the press. When I lifted the press after a minute or so the meat was intact and it fried out well. When I flipped the burger over, I again placed the waxed paper between the meat and the iron to again prevent the next side from puffing up and to flatten against the griddle, cooking for a half a min before removing the iron and paper. While that first side was cooking of first burger, I used it to flatten out other burgers on the griddle. I gave this item 5 stars because it is heavy duty cast iron like a frying pan, very well made, and I understood ahead of buying it that it has an outside edge about 1/4 inch which makes space for the meat and will not flatten the burger out any thinner than that. What I did not like is the size, This gadget is 6 inches internal diameter, and I think 4inches would have been enough for a quarter pound burger but then for a nice 8 oz. chopped steak, which I haven't tried yet but will. I know, this burger smasher, flattener, will be great for that. Just flatten it to the thickness you want it to be on one side and flip it over. It works but not well in a 13 inch frying pan as after you flatten out the first burger in the pan you would have to push the flattened burger over to the side and center the press over the next piece of meat. Remember this is 6 inch wide space that the press takes up, to press out the meat. Its exactly what I expected and does what it says frying out edges of burger crispier. Understand what you are buying though, instead of leaving this well constructed Item a bad review for stating exactly what it is and does. I wish I came with tips on use but only a picture of using wax paper over the meat while using the press was on the package.
Good Weight and Size. Makes a great smash burger.
Great product. Just what we wanted and expected no less from the Cuisinart brand.
I am new at the griddle cooking but for myself the Cuisinart press is more of a hamburger press not a smash burger press
Limited the size of smash, burgers were too thick. Returned thanks to good customer service.
The press was fine. What I didnt like is I purchased this from Walmart for 17.77 and they purchased it from Amazon for 14.00 and had Amazon deliver it to me. Very distasteful
This thing is horrible. It doesn't smash burgers it just sits on top of them. I physically have to press down on it to flatten my burger. Not what I expected. There were no instruction with this product so there was no way to tell how it works. Plus the meat stays stuck inside and falls apart. Worst product ever.
Do not buy thru Walmart.com G
This burger press is flat on the bottom side. You can only smash burgers not form them.
