I used this gum about 8 years ago and it worked great. I don't know what changes were made since then, but the gum gets super hard after a few minutes and I feel like I have chemical burns inside my mouth. I started using the gum on Jan 1 and 5 days later, my mouth is so sore, it's painful. I don't think I can return it at this point, because I cut the top of the box off for easy access. That's upsetting, because I'm going to have to just throw it away.
This is made by a new manufacturer for Equate. The new gum irritates my stomach a lot vs. the previous manufacturer's. While the cost is much better than the brand name Nicorette, my advice is to try one box first to make sure you can tolerate it.
My dentist was extremely worried about the white areas in my cheek where I park this gum. It's called Leukoplakia and can be cancerous so I am going for a biopsy next week because of this gum. I have read where Leukoplakia can be caused by irritants in your mouth (this gum) and cells grow rapidly and can become cancerous. There is a new study that does show nicotine gum can, in fact, increase the risk of oral cancer. I most definitely do not recommend this product!
Wal Mart DID switch to a different nicotine polarilex gum provider around the first of the year but are selling it in the same boxes with the same text. logo, pictures that they used before without any warning to the customer. The square, pink gum tabs Wal Mart is now selling as "their" brand are manufactured by P
Equate changed suppliers for nicotine gum. This gum is awful. Its very hard, to the point where it hurts my jaw, and the flavor lasts about 5 minutes if you are lucky. The packaging is terrible. I need to use scissors to separate the pieces in the blister pack. Dont waste your money.
I've been ordering these for the past several years, but my recent order is not the same. These are pink square pieces, not the white rectangle I used to get. Manufacturer on the box changed, and the flavor on these is gone in a short time, and the packaging is harder to open. These are no longer worth buying unless they return to the previous manufacturer.
Terrible!! Does not work like the old formula, at all. Is there even any nicotine in this gum? It tastes terrible, very strong. It gets so hard to chew after a couple of minutes that my jaw literally hurts. Walmart- notify me when you have the old formula in stock. Until then, I will purchase my gum elsewhere.
The manufacturer (and thus, the formulation and packaging) have all changed. These are TERRIBLE now! Previously, the little, white rectangular pieces were soft, had great flavor, and could be chewed for a long time. The elasticity was so good, you could even blow bubbles if you wanted. The new formula (pink squares) hardens quickly and is unpleasant to chew. Others have said they are too spicy (cinnamon hard coating), but I eat very spicy foods, so it's a non-issue for me. However, the flavor doesn't last long and the hardness makes it tiring to chew. The new packaging is terrible too. Each piece is ridiculously hard to pop out, which has resulted in gum flying across the floor when trying to free it from the blister pack. Additionally, the perforation which previously allowed me to split a sleeve or pull off a single piece (to slip into a pocket, for example), is worthless as well. I almost need scissors to do this or be left with a shredded blister pack that looks like a dog chewed it apart. It's just all-around terrible. Please Walmart, please, please source this from the original manufacturer. I'm not alone in this. Plenty of reviewers hate this formulation too. Had I known it would change like this, I would've gladly bought a few extra boxes before the originals all sold out.
Product is fine. Delivery was in a plastic bag by the front entry of the building, not in front of my office door where everyone else leaves my packages.
Unacceptable! It is not good, too much cinnamon flavor, makes your mouth raw and feels like your tongue has been burned. Go back to the original cinnamon gum that was sold.
