Great Monoxide Alarm For A Older Person.
Very Pleased with the looks and Displays for a older person to have in their home. Excellent made and a very good Value. Meets all of my Expectation.

Great value
I live in an RV and have had trouble with previous detectors. They have all cost a fortune and have been hard-wired into my RV. When they malfunction, there is only a couple of ways to turn them off...cut the wire, or beat them to death with a hammer. This detector plugs in to an electrical outlet, has a battery backup and you can't beat the price! I'm not sure about the durability rating, as I have only had the detector for a couple of weeks.

Very good product.
This replaces the exact same one I had that was at "end of life." The old one lasted over 15 years. It does have a battery backup. The old one was sent to us from FEMA after a major ice storm which took our electricity out for a week. It is easy to set up, easy to read and understand.

Handy device but wall plug necessary
I wanted to put this device in a closet, but I didn't realize the required 9v battery is only intended as a temporary backup. It will begin chirping and consuming the battery quickly if not plugged in. Also the plug is large and has a tab that partially covers the other outlet. I would buy this again because it's one of the only options out there, but it would be great if they could make a battery version.

Only tests for methane and monoxide gas
Takes up two outlets because of size. Has test functions but no way of telling if it actually works unless you have a gas leak. Placed it within 5 feet of gas furnace and water heater. Only a leak can verify it truly works. Does not detect propane gas (already tested with hand torch) - and this is an explosive gas???

OK for Basic protection
Sensors are functional which is the heart of the device, but the housing is made of cheep plastic and mgf outside the USA, which is NOT a plus for me. The door that exopses the batteries is a real piece of bad work. I expected more from First Alert. 1 to 10 rating with 10 being the best it gets a 5.
