Fiskars 22 In. Adjustable Hedge Shears

I had previously purchased a pair of Fiskars Extendable Handle Loppers, which are awesome, so I was excited to be given a pair of their hedge shears to evaluate. The Fiskars PowerGear Hedge Shears measure a little over 23 inches long total length with a blade cutting surface of 9 inches. The pair I received came razor sharp slicing through a piece of paper. These have built in PowerGear teeth which give the shears added leverage to easily power through branches. This could be helpful if you do not have a lot of strength in your arms or hands. I have included a photo which shows the 3x PowerGear teeth. I tested my pair of shears on various hedges and trees around my property. They performed exceptionally well on branches up to about a quarter inch in diameter without being able to tell I was cutting anything. On a large Douglas Fir there was very little effort grooming it for all but the largest bottom branches. On the thickest branches my Fiskars Loppers cut through them like a hot knife through butter. In the past I have owned and used a cheap pair of hedge shears with a single pivot point. These are much easier to use with the added PowerGear leverage, and the plastic handles are very comfortable also with a good cutting angle. This is a great product that I am glad to add to my gardening tool collection.

This is a review of the Fiskars Power Gear 9” Hedge Shears Let me start by saying I received these hedge shears in return for my review. I have always been impressed with Fiskars products in the past as they are well made and always of a high quality and I am happy to report these shears are no exception. These shears have a power gear feature that is sure to please. Leverage is increased decreasing the amount of effort needed to use the trimmer. I own a pair of longer non geared shears that require more physical effort to use than the Fiskars that are 2”shorter. Another nice feature is the built in rubber bumpers that act like shock absorbers,taking the shock out of completing the clipping action. The blade length is nine inches long the total length of the shears is twenty three and one half inches long. The handles are made from a very dense and sturdy plastic that should hold up well over time. The gears have two teeth that interlock as the shears are operated, a smooth and trouble free design. Hedge shears are designed to prune the new growth of shrubs and or small diameter branches they are not designed to function in the same way as a pair of long handled loppers that have greater leverage and a shorter curved blade configuration and are designed of larger diameter branches. Fiskars power gear shears work very well at doing the job that they were designed to do, trim hedges. I would defiantly recommend them to a friend and I look forward to using my new trimmers again soon.

The Fiskars Shears were great. My daughter used them on my flowering hedge and she loved them, said they were nice and sharp and she may want to borrow them sometime. They look great and do the job, thank you.

I live in Florida and we have a year round, tropical yard. I clip and chop 52 weeks a year. Needless to say I go through shears like crazy. I was very excited to get the Fiskars Power Gear Hedge 9" Shears and to give them a try. The last Hedge trimmers I used would slam my hands/knuckles together when I trimmed. The Fiskars Power Gear Hedge 9" Shears did not. I topped all my SCHEFFLERA ARBORICOLA ‘TRINETTE yesterday with my Fiskars shears and they worked like a charm. Very strong and sharp with no pinched fingers. I was able to cut large limbs with ease and little effort. They are lightweight as well and that helps when you use them for several hours. I really did like the Fiskars Hedge 9" Shears and hope they hold up to my weekly use and abuse.

I was amaze at how little effort it took me to use the Fiskars Power Gear Hedge Shears. The shears are easy to hold on to and manage. They are lightweight compared to some others. I didn't have any problems cutting some of the larger parts of the shrubs. The blade of Fiskars shears cut the each of them large or small the same with little exertion. There's also is a full lifetime warranty on this product for the initial purchaser. I don't know anything about Power Gear and what makes them work but this I do know it was so easy to open and close the handles on shears and I was finish in less time than I thought I would. My hands did not cramp or get sore. I guess it was the gear and that is what they mean by up to 3x more cutting power. All I know is I am finish. When you get to be my age it is very important to be able to continue to do things on your own and with Fiskars Power Gear Hedge Shears I am able to enjoy taking care of shrubs, because I love to enjoy watching them grow.

I am not the person that does the bush trimming. My wife does that. She tells me that these are lightweight and cut so easily from the smallest to the larger branches. I got these free from Spark Reviewer and we are grateful for the chance to use and review these nice shears. These 9" shears are designed to do their work with less effort. This is accomplished by the patented gear system on these shears. These shears are light weight to help with fatigue while using them. Why the arthritis foundation has even awarded these shears a ease of use commendation. No other such shears have this patented system for easy use or are authorized by the arthritis foundation.. They have easy grip handles made of compost materials. These shears has an easy coating system on the blades to help prevent limb and sap buildup in the rust resistant blades. They have are made with a shock absorbing bumper for comfort when you use them. These Fiskars shears will make your trimming in your yard easier than it was previously. Who knows it may even make trimming in your yard fun. :-) These shears are designed and made to withstand the outdoor elements. With that said It would be a good idea to store them inside when not in use though. We would gladly recommend these

I have hedges in front of my house, and shaping them is best done the "old fashioned way"-with a manual trimmer. And I must admit that these are so much better than the ones i have been using. At first, I was concerned, because the hand grips were not as padded as my existing shears, but when I started using these, I realized immediately that these were very comfortable in my hands. The shaft of the hand grips are designed for comfortable handling. The gear mechanism that is built into these shears is amazing! It's so much more than an average hedge shear operation. Each lop or trim movement is maximized with this gear system. I have always respected the quality of Fiskars scissors when I sew. I have a complete set of scissors, and it is so nice to see the ingenuity and quality that I have found in my scissors set is just as superior in a product for yard maintenance. I recommend this product because it is well-made and well priced, and effective! Happy shopping!

This is a great tool to have for all your gardening needs. We have a few bushes in our front yard and 2 larger trees in our backyard. We typically use an electric trimmer but this shears works great for touch ups. It's lightweight but ver sharp and durable. It even cuts through thick branches with ease. I definitely recommend this product!

I'm not a gardener by trade nor am I enough to know what the difference is in gardening tools so I will give what impression I got from using this. I have a shrub that was way overdue on some trimming so I figure I give this a try. The lever system that it has really made the job fairly easy and quick. The one other I have used in the past was a bit more of struggle. The edge was sharp, has kept its edge and as long as its lubricated where it needs to be I see this lasting a while. My shrubs will hopefully will be trimmed more often.
