The freezer arrived when it said it would. Dispite the reviews mine had no damage whatsoever to it. Packaging was intact. Waited until the next day to plug it in and it’s been working perfectly every since. I have always trusted/used Frigidaire products.
Arrived undamaged. Looks and runs good. Allowed it to temperature stabilize as per instructions for 24 hours. Put it right next to my 20 year old Frigidaire 5 cubic ft chest freezer unit. I like the handy tray basket.
The freezer is very well-packed. The instructions on how to unpack the freezer is written on an inside flap. The instructions should be written on the outside of the box as there is no need to cut the box at all. Unpacking the freezer can be done by 1 person under 5' tall. To unpack the freezer, remove the packing straps then lift the box up off its base. Tilt the freezer forward a bit from the back or front and kick the base of the carton from underneath. The back or front of the freezer is now off the base. Move around to 1 side, tilt the freezer a little either forward or back. Then use your foot to completely move the base from underneath the freezer. If the freezer is dented, scratched or marked in anyway the damage was done at the factory before the freezer was packed. There is too much styrofoam packing for the freezer to be damaged afterward without there being noticeable damage to the box. I turned the freezer on 1 day after it was delivered. Put it to setting %233 and the sides was frosting within a few hours. I left the freezer unplugged for over a week. I turned the freezer on yesterday evening at setting %233. Then put a few ziplock quart-sized bags of food in the included basket about 2am. They were all well frozen when I remembered to check them around noon. If I have any problems before the 90 day period is up I will post an update. I paid $177 for this freezer and $38 for a 2 year Allstate warranty. I will post an update if I have a problem with the freezer within the warranty period.
Product was delivered in a very damaged box. Fed ex driver was advised and asked to take pictures but refused. Freezer has a dent on front from damaged box. Walmart advised we had to bring it back to store ourselves to obtain a refund. We are 73 and that not possible . No other option provided.
freezer quit working around 15 days after my warranty. Food thawed. bought another as quickly as possible to save what I could. The freezer I replaced I bought at Walmart, because that was all I could afford. would not recommend but understand that if that's all a person can afford.
Product was damaged. Compressor was making a loud sound and the freezer arrived with lots of dents. Please be advised that Walmart's policy is only 2 day return for this item! Also, even if you are a Walmart member, the only return option is for you to haul this very heavy and bulky freezer to your nearest Walmart. I thought I could return it and Fedex would pick up but that is not an option even after I contacted customer service. I wish I knew this so I am warning you now.
Read the 1 Star reviews! Buyer beware! I received my 5 cu. ft. chest freezer in a timely manner and was left on my front porch. The on-line sales price of $164 for a "garage ready" freezer would normally make this a good buy. Once inside I noticed damage to 1 corner of the box. After unpacking the freezer for further inspection, I discovered the lower front of corner of the freezer was damaged (creased and dented in an area of about 4" x 10" x 1/2" deep). It is VERY visible. I intended to place the freezer in my kitchen. It seems to be cooling, but I am concerned about possible internal damage. Apparently, this freezer was dropped and damaged somewhere between the factory and my front porch. It was shipped to me by FedEx. I was not at home when the package arrived. I have only had the freezer running for about 18 hours. I will be contacting Walmart Customer Service to discuss a remedy. Most of the negative reviews for this item referenced damage to the item upon receipt. I was hoping mine would not be damaged, so I took a chance.
I should have heeded the warnings from the 1 star reviews. Mine too arrived dented in multiple places. Like others the only option is to accept it as is or schlep it MYSELF to my local Walmart for a refund. I am debating the following three options here as Walmart customer service proved less than helpful. 1. I am testing it to see if it will function properly dent and all just to avoid the hassle of packing this heavy item in my car and returning it. OR 2. I am also thinking of ordering another one in the hopes that one arrives dent free and returning this dented one. OR 3. just returning this and paying more but getting a dent free freezer chest from a reputable retailer. All this to say BUYER BEWARE!
This was my first time ordering a large electronic item through Walmart because I don't have a car. Not only was the delivery delayed, but unfortunately, the chest freezer arrived damaged. To make matters worse, the service center said they couldn't pick it up, and I would have to return it to the store myself. The entire purpose of using a delivery service is for convenience, especially with large items. This experience completely defeats that purpose. I'm extremely disappointed with Walmart and will not be ordering large items from them again if this is how returns are handled.
Arrived with noticeable dents on front and back and small dent on bottom. Plugged in and did work so was going to keep figuring is in garage, appearance not that big of a deal. But then I thought if is so cheaply made as to dent so easy did they make the entire thing like compressor cheap and I figure they did so not risking it stops on me in a week or even month or so. Asked for refund and despite item description saying major appliances not store returnable they are making this old guy with bad back and small car return it to a store. HELLO I ordered as it said I would not have to do that. I am trying to find someone in apartment complex to help me get it to store. Wal-Mart customer service is terrible. I want the freezer, is why I ordered it and they, or their representative, sent a damaged product and then force me to bring it back. If they would have sent me a quality item we are all happy. They should come get it like description said, Lesson learned, will never order anything from Wal-Mart unless it fits in my car. Founder of this company built it by treating customers right, modern owners don't give a dang about us, just the almighty dollar.
