I have a go-to coating that I use for poultry and fish. It is a combination of Krusteaz honey cornbread mix and GV extra crispy crumbs. Together, a light coating gives just the right amount of seasoning and sweetness to elevate even the least expensive chicken or fish. Buy 1 box each and you will have enough coating to last quite some time. It is a perfect coating for a delicious meal with a minimum of prep time and especially handy for those of us who aren't very savvy about seasonings. The GV crumbs are low calorie. It only takes a little. Add a low-calorie veggie side like GV frozen squash or green beans and you have a pleasing and healthful dinner.
I LOVE this coating. I have been using it weekly on pork chops and chicken. My only con would be that although the price is good you don't really get a whole lot in a packet. Hardly covers 2 pork chops. Wish they made it in a big container like bread crumbs.
Received this on an order substitute for Shake ‘N Bake. It's really better tasting and crispier than that product. And you still provide shaking bags for under half the price.
I bought this because of rising costs. Doesn't have the flavor of the name brand; wasn't expecting it to. I was expecting a little more flavor than what it had. But it was good. I would recommend it and will buy it again. I tried it on pork. I caution to watch your oven for singed edges, but my oven my run hot.
I needed to write a review because even though the chicken turned out great, was crispy %26 tasty I was surprised at how little coating was in the package (maybe not even a cup?) which meant that I couldn't coat all of my pieces. The package says it cover 6-8 pieces but I had 4 leg%26thigh attached pieces which would equal 8 pcs %26 there was not enough coating so I had to add extra coating to one leg/thigh with some Italian breadcrumbs I had available :( I have to admit I was shocked at how little coating was in the package; another 1/4cup is necessary for good coverage.
Shake n bake substitute at much lower price. Taste is salty so do not season chicken in advance. Easy to use and fast to cook chicken keeping moisture and bit crispy. They are not extra crispy when done, but more like "original" style fried chicken at KFC.
If you are baking this, the instruction site instructions say not to turn it over. However, the top will cook up crispy at the bottom, will not, and will remain stuck to the baking sheet.
I need you all to put my money back on my account. I didn't receive no um second box of certain type of stuff you can buy chicken with please give me my money back. I need you all to put my money back on my account. I didn't receive no um second box of sitting not second block another type of.
This stuff doesn't taste like Shake and Bake—way too salty. It's a shame nobody has been able to make a coating that actually compares. Shake and Bake is basically price-gouging with their products!
this does not stick to chicken, it is not at all "extra crispy" as it does not stick to the chicken, and instead sticks to the pan. And yes, i used a healthy amount of oil to pan fry. Bad.
