I bought a more expensive one first and had all kinds of problems including cloudy water and leaks at the faucet. I decided to go with the great value brand and have loved it . I wont switch again.

I've watched this clean 100 gallons of swamp water into shower ready water, with a little bleach added of course. it was swamp water so it wasn't potable, but still impressive.

we use these on our washing machine because we don't have city water. We were told to put these on to keep dirt and other things from getting into the washer.

It somewhat helps by removing some of the calcium (lime) and iron (rust) in the water. That being said, the water in Indiana is extremely hard and has a lot of calcium and iron in addition to pesticides, pharmaceuticals, heavy metals, organic and inorganic phosphates, and PFOAs better known as forever chemicals in the water which means that it only reduces, but not fully removes them from the drinking water.

There was a lot of black charcoal particles every time I used it for the first month, even after flushing the filter out prior.
