Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Coffee Maker, K Cup Pod Compatible Single Serve Coffee Maker & 12-Cup Coffee Pot, Black

It was easy to assemble after I washed parts in soapy water. I read instructions and set the clock. This morning I made a single mug with grounds. The coffee was hot but there was a slight sediment in bottom of cup which could be the type of coffee I used. I like the overall look of the coffee maker on my cabinet. So far I am pleased with it!

Second time I've purchased this coffee maker. After several years of use the glass pot cracked. A replacement pot would pf cost approximately $30. A new maker costing less them $100. I thought a new coffee maker was a real value after ~1000 pots of coffee.

This is the second Hamilton Beach FlexBrew we have owned. It is a well-designed maker and is very easy to use. The only negative is that the first pod is not quite as hot as subsequent pods. However, it is fine for me--my wife would prefer the first pod brewed to be a little warmer.

Giving this a 4 overall, mostly because there is no way to keep it "warming" the pot and it seems to turn off in 45 minutes or so. Not sure of the time frame, but that is my one critique of it. Otherwise it works great and I love the design of having the 2 in 1 (carafe and K-cup), as this way I don't have to have 2 coffee pots out on the counter. It works just fine, and honestly it has more selections for the k-cup than the carafe, and that's nices. You can choose several cup sizes for the k-cup and strength of brewing. All in all I am happy with this purchase, on my quest to find the perfect coffee pot system. I am still looking but this will do for now.

PROS -- This Hamilton Beach FlexBrew makes a great cup of coffee. I like that it will brew either a pot or a pod for a single cup. I've used Keurig and other pod single-cup coffee makers before, and some brands only recognize "official" pods. It's been a few years, so maybe they all accept all pods nowadays. But I've never had any problem using any coffee pods from any brand in this coffee maker. CONS -- I bought this because we've owned Hamilton Beach FlexBrew coffee makers in the past and have loved them. ONE DESIGN FLAW with this one is that it's hard to tell how much water you've put in the tank for a pot of coffee. You could fill up the carafe to the desired amount and then pour it in the back of the coffee maker, but I don't wash my coffee pot every night, and I don't want to get any coffee residue in the tank that will then clog the water lines quicker than normal mineral buildup. So I use a separate water pitcher to fill the tank on the coffee maker. The older model of the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew had a translucent window on the side of the tank with markings so you could fill it up to the 4 - 6 - 8 - 10 or 12 cup mark. On this newer model, the markings are INSIDE the tank. The tank is black, and the markings are raised numbers, also molded out of black plastic, so you can't see them easily. I have to use a flashlight every time when I'm pouring the water in so I stop pouring water when it gets to the right mark. ANOTHER PRO -- The tank for the single-cup side is removable so you can carry it to your sink to fill it up. It slides up and off the back of the coffee maker easily. Or you can just remove the lid and pour water in while the tank is still in place.

Love the Flex options and that it is available in a color other than black. Unfortunately, it has the same problem as my last HB coffee maker that I threw out. It explodes the coffee pods. Not all of them. But enough for us to hate it. I thought the last HB we had was just a bad one. Apparently, this is a HB problem. It even says in the manual that pods explode, but blames pod manufacturing discrepancies. I have had lots of coffee makers and none of them have ever blown up the pods. I will be returning it.

It's not the same as the one that I had before. this one is very complicated. It said the carafe when I fill up the tank it's overflowed. It's not a good thing at all. The information are totally Wong. I'm not satisfied with that coffee maker. Not at all. it doesn't meet the requirement.

We tried many times to get it to work c but we failed.

Ordered on line. No verification of address where to ship and was sent to address I am not at now and won't be for months, so not there to return it and assume I won't be able to after that length of time. So basically paid for something I can't use.

We were very excited to receive this unit due to its dual purposes. The K cup side works very well. However, the coffee pot side is defective. When the coffee drips out of the top, there is a blockage and it dripped all over the coffee pot itself. We called the technical number at Hamilton Beachand they told us right away to dispose of this model and they are shipping us a newer model. So please be careful in purchasing this unit. For them to send a new one so quickly, they had to know about the defect. We are looking forward to receiving our new unit, because we really like the feature of dual purposes. Kudos at this point Hamilton Beach for standing behind their product.
