It was very difficult for me to find peppers of this quality and quantity on the shelves of any stores. This product gives you both quantity and quality at a very reasonable price. I was able to prepare the desired dish with little or no effort, and the end result was very satisfactory. I was able to have them shipped in only one day later than it took to shop at a store. Very happy and highly recommended.
Great packing for this item. Shrink wrapped then boxed. Hatch chilies are a little spicier than other canned green chilies but not really hot. They have their own flavor and are usually consistent in that flavor. If you like a little more heat than regular canned green chilies, then these may be exactly what you would like.
I'm so happy to have found hatch green chilies! I am from Northwest Colorado, but now living in southwest New York State. In Colorado Hatch Chili's are a kitchen staple. I would buy them in 1 to 3 pound frozen packages, and canned Chili's for my pantry. But green chilies are nowhere to be found in New York state. In fact, New York State does not know the true essence of Mexican food. Finding these chilies has allowed me to make pork green chili, and homemade tamales for my family. The best part is having the taste of the southwest on our dinner plates.
My chilies came swiftly and I love the convenience of having them delivered as I am unable to get out myself any more. I am not able to find these whole chilies anywhere else locally, so was thrilled to find them at Walmart.
Too expensive ordering on line but, store doesn't carry any green chilies anymore. Gggrrrr! Unbelievable. That one can cost me with shipping and handling over $20 $. Wasn't paying attention that would have to be shipped. I've gone to one of the other local stores and picked it up.
I received the product in time, but would suggest that the seller do a better job of packaging the item. There was bubble wrap but the can's were not protected by it. I would suggest wrapping them and then using something to stop them from rolling around in the box. The box was almost opened. The cans were very dented. I am not giving a bad rating, but just a suggestion.
I bought the whole chiles for making Chile Rellenos. The chiles had their tops completely cut off and many of them had split sides. I needed the stems for holding them as I dip them in batter for frying. I had to piece them together with toothpicks to hold the filling (cheese strips) inside for cooking. I will stick to using fresh Chiles in the future. Takes much longer, but worth it. I gave a 3 star review because the flavor and description were accurate.
I buy these for making green chili. They work great. size is perfect. Since moving to Missouri, I can't find them anymore. They only sell the 4 oz cans. I would have to buy 14 little cans. That's a big waste! At least make them available online for delivery. That's how I found them and now it says "out of stock." Colorado has Hatch green chilies by the truckload. That's the reason for the 2 star review. NOT AVAILABLE IN MISSOURI!!!
Cans looked liked someone had taken a sledge hammer to them before packing. As much as I want them to be good so I could enjoy some Mexican dishes I wouldn't risk botulism. Returning asap! WAL-MART bring back large cans of Ortega whole green chilies please!
It cost me( 36 dollars $$$ ) for three sets of the 2 pack.. which would total ( six cans. ) of the HATCH GREEN CHILES 27 ounce.. I received ( only 4 cans of my 6 can order)( So that sets me back about 12 bucks ) I promptly started a return..as I was coming to the end of completing the return request..I noticed the refund was for( $5.96 ) what the heck!? I checked for any mistakes on my part filling out the refund request.. Nope I didn't make a mistake..so, I cancelled out the refund request.. Hind sight is 20/20 ..I should have paid better attention to the reviews, because of the fact that a few customers complained about the exact same issue..( incomplete order ) - getting shorted on the amount ordered and unfortunately paid for in full) I'm so disappointed ☹️
