With a household of two tea drinkers, these can get heavy use, and after a few years they need replaced. Though it can take years, they do last well undt heavy use.
Makes delicious iced tea. I set it on 7 strength. Easy to use, and the hard-to-find plastic pitcher is large, lighter, and worry-free for these elderly hands.
Advertised on line and on box as a 3QT Iced Tea Maker. This is false advertising. Pitcher holds 2QTs at best. For me, Pitcher is great because it's not glass, however, it's made very cheaply from flimsy hard plastic. Directions very poor and parts are not dish washer safe.
As a Southerner, I drink a lot of iced tea. I love the look and the reusable strainer that makes brewing easy. Unfortunately, after only a few months of use, it started leaking from top dispenser area. It makes a nice tea but now a bit messy.
The lid for the pitcher fits loose. I attempted to pour a glass of tea and The lid came off, and I had ice and tea all over everything.
Actually 2 stars is pusing it on the high end. The problem with this device is that you pour the water to the fill line and run it. I've had several of these and they all work the same. However this one, decides when it would like to stop makiong tea before all of the water is gone. So you start with a full pitcher of water, and only get 3/4 of a pitcher of tea. The rest of the water sits in th tank to collect bacteria until the next batch is made. so you ahve to unplug it and dump out all of the excess water, then add plain water to the rest of the tea jug, making the tea weak. I'm on the hunt for a new tea maker now.
I bought one and it would only stay on for a few seconds then turn off. So I exchanged it for another one, and it did exactly the same thing. So I exchanged it for a third one which seemed to be working good until today. I wanted stronger tea so I adjusted the knob. It seemingly made no difference at all to how fast the water poured thru the tea. So I removed the brew basket and noticed that the entire assembly that is supposed to open and close the valve on the brew basket when you adjust the knob is not even there. So no, third time is not a charm. Third time and you still get the same piece of junk as the first time. And it doesn't matter which brand of these you get either. They are all junk. My suggestion is to get a coffee maker and use it to brew tea. At least they are made fairly well.
In photos this looks nice. But in reality it is so cheaply made. The basket where you put the tea is awful. The clean up is awful also. I have a Mr. Coffee tea maker that is about 40-45 years old, it works great. It is well stained from being used a lot.
Shipping box and product box have a big hole. The styrofoam inside is broken. I'm not sure if product is cracked but this is a gift. I don't to give it with a big hole in box
Broke on first use. Only pumped about 1/8 of the pitcher, then stopped.
