For 25 years, I was a loyal store-brand shopper. I don't regret it, but certain items demand a name brand, and Hunt's Tomato Paste is one of them. The secret? Buying the larger 12-ounce can actually saves money while providing a clearly superior product. My Game-Changing Hack: I rarely need the whole can, so I use what I need (usually 6 oz. or less) and freeze the rest! I spoon the leftover paste into a silicone ice cube tray to make frozen cubes—each cube is about two tablespoons. I transfer the cubes to a freezer bag for future use. They are perfect for dropping into vegetable soup for that deep, tomato flavor, or, as I did last night, adding a cube to homemade salsa to thicken it up. It worked perfectly! I highly recommend Hunt's paste (they also make Garlic %26 Herb!). Grab a couple of silicone ice trays—the cubes pop out easily after a quick run under cool water. Put your freezer to work and enjoy good cooking!
This tomato paste is the greatest. I tried the rest but, hunt's is the best. I been using hunt's tomato paste for over 35 years.
I use Hunts Sauce in my Spaghetti Sauce and in my Swiss Steak recipes. It is not bitter, nor too sweet and I like the consistency. It marries well with the herbs I add to my sauces.
This adds another level of zing to my spaghetti. It's not spicy or hot, but brings extra rich tomato flavor to my spaghetti when added with spaghetti sauce.
I usually purchase this at a wholesale club, but they only carry the 6 oz cans now. I use 12 oz when I make a pot of sauce so the 12 oz cans are easier to work with and cost less than two 6 oz cans.
I usually get the great value brand, but they were out of stock. This one worked just as well to make spaghetti sauce. The price isn't bad, but it's more than Walmart's house brand.
The tomato paste come half of the can why it is always like that. Just like the whi e seller the bottle looks full but the bottom of the buttle has hill almost to the half of the bottle. Which your's the opposite it has a hole in the middle which means the can is not full but I'm paying of the full can price.
It's not full , it's half way empty the container.
First, it was a different smell, then thank God i looked. I was speechless at what I saw. It's Huntz, a name brand. Can I have my $ back, please lol
I don't know what has happened to Hunt's tomato products, which I have used for decades. The taste is very bitter and acidic and there is no amount of spices or sugar that can make it taste good. This is the second time I have used it since I noticed the difference, but no more. Food costs are too high to throw an entire batch of spaghetti sauce in the garbage.
