This is our new favorite for cooking family meals in! Cooks great and sells out fast I finally got one.
i love this pot but be careful, when it gets hot, its dangerously hot and quick. i seasoned it and it cooks perfectly. i wish i had it sooner.
This pot is the most comparable to the Magnalite pots of the past. These products are a lifetime purchase.
First let me say, this is a beautiful piece. The photos don't do it justice. Both top and bottom pieces are shiny and polished. The one draw back is that the lid doesn't marry-up exactly with the pot. It closes, and generally seals, but it's a little uneven and on one side there is a small gap. I didn't take a photo of where the gap is the biggest, but trust me on one side it sits up a bout 1/8". This IS NOT my 1st IMUSA purchase. I have both the 7.5 and 18qt caldero's and I can tell you that the manufacturing at this Columbian plant is pretty spotty. It's not terrible, it's just not that great either. I'm guessing their tooling is old, or need of repair/replacement. The quality control is just not there. You have to buy these IMUSA cast aluminum pots knowing that going in and you won't be disappointed or have to return anything. I'm pretty sure this is why all those Latin American rice recipes tell you to put a layer of aluminum foil between the lid and container. It's to make sure you cover all the gaps where the lid doesn't quite marry up with the bottom because of the warping or shoddy manufacturing. There is a company called Uniware that makes caldero's. Unfortunately, they don't make these big roasters/gumbo pots. They're definitely more expansive, but all of their cast aluminum stuff is robust, interior surfaces are polished, and tolerances are TIGHT. I wish they made one of these puppies. Anyhoots, that's all I have to say about this. Wait for this one to go on sale and you'll probably get a great deal! Just don't expect perfection. I'm sure this pot will serve me for decades to come. 4-stars for the small gap, otherwise I'd give it 5
this roster is huge! the only thing that I don't really like about it is that I thought because it was cast aluminum that it would be a lot lighter like a Magna light roaster it's pretty heavy but it is a beautiful pot well worth the money.
I bought it to make Indian crepes(dosa). Fits perfectly on my stove, heats evenly, can make 2 crepes at a time easily and a great time saver. However, the handles of the griddle are of steel and gets heated, I wish they had some rubber materials on it which can protect if we hold them by mistake when the griddle is too hot. I have been using it since couple of weeks and I have put it in dish washer for cleaning and everything is good so far.
We ordered a 15-inch cooker. The item arrived as promised. Opened the package, the cooker was intact. Read instructions before using it and follow instructions to the T. Instructed to cook on medium to low heat to prevent the cooker from burning. My husband wanted to cook gumbo, and it turned out tasty. Remember to use mittens or pot holders because the lid gets hot. I would recommend this cooker. Follow the instructions, and you can't go wrong.
I never received this product and it has been a run around ever since. I am not happy with WalMart at all. Then they want to give you a coupon that can only be used online not in the store. It's a shame, Good Customer Services are extinct now. 😰 Do better WalMart!
It arrived dented and was all scratched up and not even in a bag just sitting on my door mat where we wipe are shoes. Returned for a refund
Bought one of these pots, lid did not sit correctly on it and there was a gap. Thinking maybe it was a fluke I exchanged it and the second one has the exact same issue!!! Do not buy if you plan on using the lid, there's a manufacturing defect!
