Great item. Very durable. God Bless you Iron Gym
This workout bar is a great addition to a home workout routine. I have tried the suggested floor exercises with it, but mostly use the pull-up function to work my back. I love the convenience of being able to hang it in the doorway for my workout, then easily taking it right back down when I'm done. Note: if your interior walls are built with narrower that standard 2x4 studs (as most manufactured homes are), you'll need to somehow shim the door protectors on the gripping side in order for the bar to sit level and hang securely. I found that a couple of standard rolls of toilet paper work well for this. Overall, this is a great piece of equipment to add to your daily home workout.
The grips are not exactly overpadded but that's ok for people who want to do some pull-ups or chin-ups. I'm hanging for about a minute and my hands get sore, but maybe my hands have gotten weaker with the near-stoppage of weightlifting with my now trick shoulder. It is stable on the door frame. You'll have to lift your feet off the ground to have full body weight if you're anything over 5 feet tall.
I received this item for review from Walmart. The simplicity of this exercise tool intrigued me. Upon first opening, there were only 5 pieces. Assembly took only about 20 minutes with easy to follow direction. When putting this up in the doorway, one needs to consider a few things. First, the width is approximately 37 inches across (It is best used for 34" door way or less). Second, the cross bar ends will touch the door trim. While it is padded, I don't think that's enough. It is easy to see that after using it awhile, you could damage the door trim. I would suggest not putting it in a doorway with nice door trims, and consider using extra padding in between (e.g. towel, foam, sock). Third, and I know this should be obvious...but you cannot close the door when this is installed. (again, consider the location and traffic when installing this). With all that said, it does a good job for pull ups and chin ups. IT is also suppose to help you do push ups and dips (on the ground). But I found it too cumbersome to remove each time so I leave it up. Besides, the bar is a little too low for effective dips. All in all, for the price listed on the web, it's a great exercise tool. I would recommend it to a friend with the above precautions.
Are you looking for a way to perform upper body workouts without spending hundreds of dollars on a full gym setup? The Iron Gym Upper Body Workout Bar can be a good low cost alternative... The 4-piece workout bar is easy to assemble right out of the box, meaning you can start your workouts within minutes. It is designed to fit residential doorways from 24 to 32 inches wide. The following is a summary of the workout bars features. Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar – Features Summary - Ideal for pull-ups, push-ups, chin-ups, dips, crunches, and more. - Three grip positions, narrow, wide, and neutral. - Uses leverage to hold against the doorway so there are no screws and no damage to door. Installs in seconds. Overall this is a great upper body workout gym and I received this product from the Spark Reviewer program.
I received this product as a member of the walmart spark reviewer program. It is a nice, sturdy, well made piece of workout equipment. I like it a lot but due to my height (6'1.5'', which is about average or a bit higher) it is a little awkward using the pull up bar. The reason for this is that when i fully extend my arms i have to completely bend my knees to a 90 degree angle, and EVEN with that my knees are about 3-5 inches from touching the ground. It may be due to my arms being a bit longer than normal. Either way that is the only issue. Other than that, if you have a regular door frame, it should work perfectly. The other thing i was worried about was my weight (250 lbs) but the rating for the workout bar was up to 300 lbs so I am fairly safe in that regard. Plus, these companies often put 1.5 to 2 levels of conservatism in their design so I am sure it can hold up to 400 lbs possibly.. i would not try to do so without a soft landing pad beneath though. In addition, i never knew you could se it for multiple exercise like sit ups and dips... it definitely expanded my home workout regiment.. I definitely recommend. It is also very easy to put together. I estimate about 5 - 10 mins (maximum) to completely build the bar.
There was minimal assembly on this workout bar. You just screw the cross bars on with the hardware provided. It is VERY sturdy and holds as much weight as we put on it.-everyone that has tried it. The bar mounted easily and securely to my standard door frame- with no hardware and you can remove and replace it when ever desired. You just place the curved bars on the door frame on one side and rest the flat bar against the door frame on the other--as in photo. It is nice to have several different hold positions so you can work different upper body muscle groups. You can also hit abs by doing leg lifts and crunches. I really like it as a push up bar, for the various positions too. You just put the bar on the floor and hold onto it for push ups. But it is especially helpful for me as I have wrist issues and I can position my hands so that I am able to do push ups again. This bar is compact so you can tuck it under a bed or in a closet when you aren't using it--or you can just leave it hanging in a doorway. It reminds my to do it! You can still walk through the doorway, but you can't close the door. I like that I can get a quick workout in while dinner is cooking or whenever I walk by. No going to the gym or down to the basement to workout.
There is a little assembly required, but a wrench is included and it is pretty self-explanatory. The way the bar works is pretty ingenious, since it uses the weight of the user to solidly clamp itself to the inner and outer door frame at the header. Once in place, a variety of pull-ups can be performed. As an added bonus, you can place the bar on the floor and do different push-up type exercises. It adds a different methodology to your exercise routine.
Not in it's usual packaging. No bonus offers included. They offered a discount though from it's usual price.
This item works on limited types of doors. So be very careful when getting it. I'm now using it on the ground since it doesn't work on any of my doors.
