I bought this to bond a tiny piece of hard plastic that came off a door from a mini fridge in my volvo truck. It worked well, let it cure 24 hours and it wasn't going anywhere. Until a few weeks later it gave out, but i had like 5 uses left. I also used this on a six inch tatue that broke off a small piece, about a dime in size. That one has lasted me several months to this day.. In conclusion, this is a good solution for bonding plastic and other material.
I've used J-B Weld PlasticWeld to hold together plastic items that, for whatever reason, came apart, but, were worth repairing. In the photos is the plastic top of a plastic 30-gallon trash can, which I discovered had been broken by the trash collectors (they hired a new guy who is brutal, despite complaints to the town). I couldn't hold the piece together while "gluing" it, so, I used scrap metal and bolts to hold it, while applying the J-B product (I wore food-grade plastic gloves to protect my hands from the sticky stuff, which, I learned the hard way, is very difficult to remove without acetone or similar). I not only filled the gap, I made sure that it spread across the crack to give the epoxy a better grip, if you will (you can see the "glob" in the photo showing the bottom of the trash can top). Even though it is supposed to cure in 1 hour, I gave it two full days, and marvelled at the result (as I had with my previous use of the product). I decided to leave the brace on for additional security. So far, it has not allowed rain, snow, or even the violent trashman, to break through! The only negatives are the cost and it is difficult to get out of the two side-by-side tubes. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with the product.
Used this to patch a hole in the plastic outer tub of my washing machine. The double injection insures you get an even mix of the glue and hardener. You have to point it straight up and get the air out. if one side has more air than the other you might want to block the fuller one till they come out evenly.
We have used all the JB's except the Marine variety. It had the same wonderful, quick dry effect as the others. Would buy again and again. Repaired the roof crack in our older pop up Coleman, so the kids could use it.
We had something with broken plastic that we were going to throw away and I decided to try plastic weld and it worked perfectly. It saved us quite a bit of money to be able to fix it.
use this product to repair plastic parts works great
The product is quick, dependable, long lasting, and a great price.
worked like a charm to fix my retractable baby gate that I may or may not have tripped over....
I bought this to join ABS and PVC. It did not hold after I waited about 24 hrs to dry (just to be safe). The bond did not hold any stronger than my little fingers strength. Followed every step to the T except sanding surfaces. Maybe sanding would have made a difference? Ended up using mechanical fasteners for my project. Probably won't buy this again. Also, it set up faster than I was expecting and I lost a lot of the product at the end.
I bought this glue to repair a pair on broken plastic gaming headphones. The package says it's for plastic so I thought it would be perfect for what I need. The glue mixed well and applying it was easy. However, it took a lot longer to dry than it should've. Also, the glue wasn't even close to as strong as the package indicated and did a terrible job actually sticking to the plastic. J.B. Weld is known for producing strong, long lasting adhesives, so what went wrong I really don't know. I was very disappointed with this product so I sent it back for a full refund. Maybe plummers glue would work better.
