Libby's Corned Beef is a staple where I'm from (Hawaii). Next to SPAM, most kitchen pantries are stocked with both, don't forget Vienna Sausages. Also ordered a fresh head of cabbage to cook up some Corned Beef, Cabbage and sliced sweet onions which can be enjoyed anytime of day, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Highly recommended.
Moving to the mainland from Hawaii, we have been looking for Libbys Cornbeef. Its been awesome that we can find this at our neighborhood Walmart. We like to make hash patties with this. Mix this in with some potatoes and some green onions. Form them into patties (like hamburger patties) and fry them. So yummy with rice and eggs.
I grew up on this brand of Corned Beef . I've tried other brands, but was never satisfied with any of them, and always came back to Libby's brand. I love to cook it with onions peppers cabbage in a sofrito mix tomato sauce. It goes great with white rice on the side. Buen provecho!😋
Great way to get your protein. Make it with a can of corn and a couple of olives 🫒. And sofrito ( bell peppers onions mince garlic, sason with achote with the side of white rice and all my family loves it. You can also make it with yellow plantains, fry plantain first and then use it instead of the corn
This type of corned beef is considered number one among the brands available in the market. The meat tastes excellent, the price is affordable, and I use it for lunch or as an additional dish.
Love Love Libby"s Corned Beef. This is the only brand I buy. Nearest to what you could buy in thin slices at a deli back in the UK years ago. Now I use the canned version and make a sandwich with a sliced tomato or pickled beets on one of your Hard Rolls. Delicious !!!
I purchased the Libbys corned beef because it was on a rollback price. I usually buy the Great Value brand since the Libbys brand has become unaffordable in price. We like Libbys corned beef for its taste and I prefer the ones made in Brazil as opposed to the one made in Uruguay for its better texture. Either one is okay in taste.
This is a pretty good tasting Corned Beef. The texture of it is quite soft because of the fat content in it.That soft texture is to be expected because of the fat content, however, it does NOT enhance the experience of eating it. (My grandmother emigrated to the U.S. from England and just about EVERYTHING that she cooked was FULL of FAT) ... not a memory that enhances the experience of eating fatty foods now! So ... if you don't mind the texture, you will probably enjoy the taste. If the fatty texture doesn't stimulate your appetite, you might wish that you had stopped for some fast-food on the way home, or, you might want to check to see if the kids left you any potato chips that you can eat for dinner.
I really wish I could rate this corned beef higher but it was not all that great. It was very mushy and like a potted meat type style. There used to be more substance to canned corned beef with a chunk or two in the mix but not anymore. When cooking with fried cabbage the meat disintegrated into mush. Will not buy again. ( if times get real lean I might break down and get it for a desperate emergency)
The key to open the can of corned beef had been removed from where it was soldered onto the end of the can, to be removed by the consumer to open the can, and had been been put on the metal tongue and partially twisted just enough that it broke the seal on the can of meat. I had no way of knowing when the seal was broken, so the corned beef was not edible.
