I'm not gonna lie… at first, I was hesitant, then intrigued. After tasting this flavor for the first time, I felt like I should've been sitting at grandmas for thanksgiving. It's delicious turkey flavor without the dryness. Adding this to stuffing would be an absolute game changer. I'll be buying more…
We recently tried three varieties, 25% Less Sodium, Turkey, and Korean BBQ, and used them to make Spam musubi for the family, and we were honestly really impressed. No one could tell the difference flavor wise with the 25% Less Sodium or the Turkey, they were just as satisfying and delicious as the original which was a great surprise. The Korean BBQ flavor was a standout in its own way, we cooked it without adding any sauce so we could really taste it and it delivered with a unique, well balanced flavor that had a lot of depth and a spice forward profile. Overall, all three were a hit in our house, easy 10/10.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Turkey Spam! I thought the flavor was very similar to original Spam (though regular spam has a ham-y note to it). The biggest difference tk me was texture--the turkey felt more soft/squishy and less dense as you chew it. My daughter also loved it, but my husband and father were not big fans. So it seems to be a love it or hate it flavor! I definitely think it's worth a try though!
The turkey version is… fine, but it's definitely a different experience. It's leaner and lighter, which sounds good in theory, but you lose a lot of that rich, savory flavor that makes Spam what it is. The texture is a bit less juicy too. It's not bad, just a little underwhelming, especially if you're expecting the classic taste. If you're trying to cut fat or just want something lighter, it works, but I wouldn't reach for it over the original or even the lower sodium version.
This oven roasted turkey SPAM is a solid alternative if you're looking for something lighter than the original. It still has that familiar SPAM texture and a slightly salty, savory taste, but the flavor is definitely milder and not as rich. I usually slice it thin and pan-fry it until crispy, then use it in sandwiches or with eggs and rice. It works best in dishes where you're adding other flavors, since it's not quite as bold on its own. One of the biggest positives for me is that it's lower in fat and feels like a better option since I have high cholesterol and try to be more mindful about what I eat. The downside is that the taste can feel a little plain compared to classic SPAM, and it doesn't fully taste like real turkey either. Overall, it's not my favorite variety, but it's a good, lighter alternative that I'd still buy again for quick, easy meals.
Hormel kindly gifted us this product to review. We recently tried the Spam Oven Roasted Turkey variety, and overall, it was just okay. The salt level was reasonable, and the flavor was decent, somewhere between turkey and ham, but it didn't really stand out in a positive way. Our main issue was that it came across a bit dry, though thay may have been partly due to how we prepared it. Serving it with something like gravy might improve the experience. In the end, our family found it edible, but not something we'd go out of our way to buy again. It didn't feel like a great substitute for turkey, and we still prefer the classic Spam flavor, even the reduced sodium version. Because of that, we probably wouldn't recommend it.
I received this product for free to try and honestly review. I didn't care for this Turkey Spam. I couldn't get it to brown and crisp up like other Spam varieties and the taste wasn't there for me. That said, if you really like turkey I'm sure you'll come up with some great recipes for this one!
This was OK. I prefer the taste of the original spam even though everyone doesn't eat pork. I think this didn't have the flavor that I wanted from the spam I know in love. I would say this is a great alternative for those who cannot partake in pork products and want to eat spam.
First of all who's bright idea was it to send three metal cans of spam through the mail in a thin envelope? The envelope was crushed a can of spam was crushed and leaked all over the envelope and my porch were FedEx left it. Not a fan of FedEx as they have a habit of delivering to the wrong address damaging packages and sometimes just tossing packages on the side of the road.
Taste great! But this one was molded when I opened it. It was sealed and had the same expiration date as the others. Inspect the content carefully before consuming.
