Lodge an Made-In-America company has been my go-to for cast iron and this loaf pan does not disappoint. Lodge products arrive pre-seasoned and ready to go. This baking pan weighs a whopping 4 lbs. 4.5 oz. As recommended, I sprayed a baker spray mix of oil/flour, poured in my fluffy cornbread mixture and tossed in the oven. My bread baked evenly and obtained the gorgeous slightly brown edge. The cornbread lifted out without any sticking and the best part was how incredibly fast the cleanup was. I always wipe the inside with an oiled paper towel after drying. Want a perfect bread, then get the perfect pan.
I can't say enough great things about this loaf pan! I love to bake, especially pumpkin and banana bread. I have always wanted to have a cast iron loaf pan like this one. It is so well made, and such high quality. I have heard about the Lodge brand before, and know that they are well-known for making excellent cookware and bakeware. This is such a heavy pan, but that's what will make it not warp or bend. It also just looks so attractive. It takes a little extra work to keep this clean, but it is well worth that effort. You have to apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the surface after cleaning it completely. It was actually very easy to clean, and everything I make in it turns out perfectly. I love the idea that this is something I will use for the rest of my life, and will also be something I can pass on to my kids, and that they can in turn pass on to their families. This is something I think they will actually want to have and use frequently. This is such a great value, because even though it may be pricier than other pans, it will last so much longer. I would highly recommend this cast iron loaf pan to anyone who wants to cook with excellence and have a product to pass on to generations. You will not be disappointed at all!
I bought my first piece of cast iron cookware just over a year ago and it lives on my stovetop because I use it for everything. I was happy to be able to add a loaf pan to my kitchen. This one is just as heavy-duty as my more expensive skillet. The loaf pan came pre-seasoned. I washed it when I got it and lightly oiled it. I tested it out with banana bread and it baked it evenly. The banana bread did cook more quickly (by 10 minutes) than the package suggested (my oven does tend to cook things maybe a little more quickly than packaging suggested cooking times) and I'm not sure if that's a cast iron thing or if it's because I added a banana that the bread mix didn't call for (I need to learn more about baking with cast iron). I didn't pre-grease the pan and it still came out of the pan without sticking. I'm getting ready to donate my old non-cast iron loaf pan because I can't see that I'll ever be using that one again.
This Lodge brand 8.5 by 4.5 Cast Iron Loaf pan is awesome. It's the perfect size for me. Any bigger and it could be hard to handle. This is just the right combination of size and weight. I have always loved cast iron for flavor and ease of use. Just cook, wash, dry, and rub with oil. Bread pops right out. However, I like to preheat it before adding batter to get crunchy edges on my bread and biscuits. I have received this item for my review and it is everything it says. I am anxious to get some cornbread mix and do the crispy edges that I love.
The lodge 8.5 by 4.5 seasoned cast iron loaf pan is very well made. I made banana bread in this and it came out perfect. I love that it's already pre seasoned . I also love that it comes with clear instructions on how to clean the pan. Hand wash, dry promptly , apply thin layer of oil over entire surface after each use. It's so easy to use and so easy to clean. I was always afraid of using cast iron because I didn't know how to clean it, but Lodge makes it so easy. Would definitely recommend to others.
I have only just this week taken delivery of this cast iron loaf pan and so have yet to try it out. This is actually called a standard sized loaf pan, though it is smaller than I would normally use. But recipes can be adjusted. It is weighty and should prove to last a long time.
This Lodge Cast Iron pan is great! I got the loaf pan and it's perfect for all kinds of breads (it measures 8.5 by 4.5 inches). Our favorite is homemade honey cornbread. The crust comes out perfectly golden. I have multiple cast iron pans of various shapes and sizes, all Lodge brand. I got several pans when I got married 20 years ago and they are still going strong! It is made in the USA and will last generations! Lodge cast iron is high quality, heavy duty, and made in the USA (in Tennessee). I really appreciate and trust this company- they've been around for over a century! Cast iron is healthy (no weird chemicals, just iron), it heats evenly, and it's so easy to use. It may seem intimidating, but its actually really simple. If you're new to cast iron, just remember that oil is your friend. These come pre-seasoned, so to keep that naturally nonstick surface, don't let the pans soak in water, ever. Simply handwash, dry immediately, and oil your pan inside and out before putting it away. That's it. This loaf pan also has handles so it's easy to place in and take out of the oven. I'd highly recommend Lodge Cast Iron to anyone! It makes for a great wedding gift that will last for generations!
I baked some banana bread in this loaf pan. It browned nicely, and it came out of the pan easily. I did spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Some older cast iron pans I have had weren't very non-stick, but this one is non-stick. It also cleaned up easily.
Cast is built to last but getting your food out perfectly is priority one! This loaf pan makes meatloaf with ease but most importantly it works for bread and other sweet treats just as perfectly as it said. Being pre-seasoned is a huge plus! I do not soak and soap mine a lot if I can help it and try to wipe it clean mostly. Of course sometimes it may require a good cleaning but with cast iron your food comes out with that nice brown crust makes cleanup a breeze. Second best part is the fact it lasts forever and is something my family and my kids family will one day be able to use too! We take ours camping and use it in a bed of coals that have simmered down and get a great banana bread to share that comes out perfectly!
I have a couple of large lodge fry pans which I like using for specific recipes I wanted to try a loaf pan to make some bread and cornbread in. It does say seasoned already but I always re-season it myself too. I will rub some vegetable oil on it and place it in an oven a very hot oven for about an hour and that will help season it. I am hoping this is going to make a nice crusty Italian bread also.
