I finally found the one brand of Bastami that has the exact texture and flavor encountered at my frequented Indian resto's You can't wrong with Mahatma, very satisfied In my case 1 cup of rice, 1 1/2 cup of water in an electric rice cooker delivered the best result

We love this rice. Follow the directions, and if you dare - add an almost 1 inch piece of salted butter to the boiling water prior to the simmer. Once done, the aroma is phenomenal - and with the butter, wow… folks, try this at home - and avoid the margarine… who needs 42% vegetable oil spread, anyway…

It's amazing how truly different this rice tastes compared to other available brands. We've tried what I believe to be every brand available. when cooked properly this one wins hands down. So simple to prepare; start with a pot that has a lid that seals tightly to keep in steam. combine one heaping cup of Mahatma basmati with one can of chicken broth (15.5 Oz) on medium to high heat. Allow this to boil for approximately 3 minutes stirring occasionally. Quickly cover the pot and remove from heat. Set burner to simmer. After 20 minutes remove lid and fluff quickly with a fork. Replace lid, remove some heat and wait 5 minutes. DONE

FIRST Heard about this rice and I love it. Good for people who are diabetic or prediabetic ..,.or just anyone. Easy to fix and tastes great . Good price also at Walmart.

I love basmati. It's fragrant and even alone it's flavorful. I do wish I would have bought a bigger bag because it's a better deal. It easy ish to prepare. I make mine mostly plain but sometimes I cook it with tomatoes blended up with onion and garlic and cook it down with chicken broth. The grains are long and fluff up nicely.

I just adore rice. I didn't have it much or at all as a child as my mother didn't like rice. She said it had something to do with rice pudding! just so many ways you can use it, Mexican, American, Oriental, love them all. it's very much worth the prices it's a high quality item for me.

this rice is fantastic. it cooks perfectly every time. is not sticky, mooshy are hard. a bit longer than reg rice. blends well with everything from plain butter to stir fry. vegetables.

I ran out of basmati rice one day and added it to a Spark order along with a few other things. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Walmart carries this brand. I usually use their regular white rice but had been trying a different brand for basmati. The grains are extra long and very aromatic. The food turned out so much better than with the other brand and I'm really glad I decided to try something different for once. Mahatma is definitely more authentic and flavorful. I'll be sticking with it from now on.

This basmati rice is wonderful with Indian meals at a great price! The taste and aroma are consistently good and the rice fluffs up. The rice is always clean without sediment but I rinse it and pout off the water before cooking because it takes out starch. If the meal is not going to be served immediately, I turn off the heat (gas) about five minutes before the timer rings to keep the rice from overcooking. Hot rice in the pot will continue to stay hot for several minutes. When I've made curries with coconut milk, I add unsweetened flaked coconut on the top of the rice after it has cooked about 15 minutes. Delicious!

I tried just to see what Basmati was like--I usually like Uncle Ben's Long grain rice--this is ok but stays rather hard and grainy -- doubt I'll buy again
