I received the McCormick Organic Fennel Seed and honestly was stumped on how and what recipes to use it in since I'd never cooked with Fennel Seed before. When I opened the bottle and smelled this delicious, different, aromatic smell. After some research, I decided to make turkey breakfast sausage patties using the fennel seed and some other spices. They were so easy to make and the fennel seed really brought the flavor out. I'm very happy to have tried the McCormick Fennel Seed as now I can make healthier sausage for my family. I'm also looking forward to trying it in some new recipes I've found as well.
I recently tried McCormick Gourmet Organic Fennel Seed and I'm genuinely impressed! The seeds are fresh, aromatic, and packed with that classic sweet, slightly licorice-like flavor that elevates any dish. I've been using them in everything from roasted veggies to homemade sauces, and they add such a warm, rich depth without overpowering the other flavors. The fact that they're organic makes me feel even better about using them in family meals, and the packaging keeps them perfectly fresh. A little goes a long way, and they've quickly become a staple in my pantry. Definitely a must-have for anyone who loves cooking with bold, natural flavors!
Beautifully aromatic and vibrant in flavor. These organic fennel seeds have a bright, naturally sweet profile with a subtle anise finish. They toast wonderfully and elevate everything from roasted vegetables to homemade bread and spice blends. The quality is evident — uniform size, clean appearance, and exceptional freshness. A staple in my pantry.
I tried McCormick Gourmet Organic Fennel Seed and really liked how clean and sweet-licorice the flavor is, especially in Italian sausage, tomato sauces, and roasted veggies. It's certified organic and the seeds smell fresh right out of the jar, so it feels like an upgrade over generic fennel. The downside is that the 1 oz glass bottle is pretty pricey compared to bulk or non-organic options, and you'll go through it fast if you cook with fennel a lot. If you enjoy that anise/fennel note and don't mind paying a bit more, it's a solid pantry spice.
I absolutely loved using McCormick Gourmet Organic Fennel Seed during my postpartum recovery. The seeds are incredibly fresh and fragrant—when you open the jar, you immediately get that warm, slightly sweet licorice aroma that fennel is known for. You can tell the quality is high. After having my baby, I started incorporating fennel seeds into simple homemade teas and soups. I would lightly crush a teaspoon and steep it in hot water for a calming fennel tea, which was especially comforting in the evenings. I also added the seeds to brothy lentil soups and sautéed vegetables to help support digestion during those early postpartum weeks when gentle, nourishing foods are so important. The flavor is beautifully balanced—subtle, aromatic, and not overpowering. It added just the right touch to my meals while also being a traditional ingredient many people use postpartum for digestion and overall comfort. The glass jar keeps the seeds fresh, and a little goes a long way. If you enjoy cooking with whole spices or want something versatile for teas, soups, and spice blends, this fennel seed is a wonderful addition to your pantry. Highly recommend!
I love these Fennel seeds! The quality is noticeably high, carefully selected seeds. They also taste very fresh, good, bold flavor. The packaging is sleek and nice as well, fits well in my spice rack.
Who knew organic fennel could be so much better than regular fennel?!?! I received this item free in exchange for an honest review and let me tell you i won't purchase non organic fennel ever again!
I was impressed at the nice packaging these organic fennel seeds came in, you can tell that they are a high quality product! I have been using the seeds for teas and the seeds are aromatic and flavorful and taste fresh!
I've found no recipes calling for whole fennel seed. Bought by mistake.
