We gave this to my two year old granddaughter for Christmas. My daughter-in-law says it is the toy she goes to play with first! Even her 4 1/2 yr. old sister enjoys playing with it a lot! Great for hand coordination, too :). We highly recommend this toy!
its great kid loves it
this toy is so cute and age wise .my great-granddaughter is 2yearsold
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Brain smart and fun to play with! This is such a great toy that involves the brain. My 1 year old and 3 year old love playing with this spin top toy. It is very durable and I don't have to worry about anything breaking. They loved pushing the tops down which then made it spin. It is a great sensory toy.
Toddlers will need guidance with this toy, there's no question. It won't be something they can easily do on their own. However, my son loves spinning motions and he loves plunging down the 'plunger' to make the red, blue, or green top spin. Sometimes the tops won't spin well, but that's part of the challenge, I think. You can model how to experiment with which sort of 'hits' on the plunger seem to make the top spin well and which don't. My son has to be directed to notice the spinning tops at the bottom right now, even though he loves spinning. I suspect a lot of this is because of the cause-effect 'gap' that when he plunges it down, 'far' below (not really, but to him) the tops are spinning. I would absolutely recommend it, but not as a gift for someone else's kiddo (like at a birthday party). It's something that takes parent-child interaction, patience, and multiple exposures to the toy to really reap the enjoyment and learning principles of it. Speaking of learning, this toy really helps you demonstrate and teach: --Cause %26 effect --How to conduct simple experiments by forming simple theories (e.g., I think if I hit the plunger hard, it will make the top spin more than if I hit it lightly) --A bit about how force %26 motion work --The fun of exploring something %26 sticking with it until you understand it (e.g., practice makes perfect--or at least a whole lot better!!!)
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My little guy just turned two, and he was immediately interested when I brought this out. It gave about ~15 minutes of concentrated focus, which I feel like its pretty good when it's competing with YouTube videos. It was a little hard to use, but he figured it out eventually.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was gifted this product by Melissa and Doug and Influenster in exchange for my honest review. I have a 3 year old so I do think this would be better suited for a younger toddler bc he does have his cognitive skills down so he wasn't as enamored for as long as he usually is with toys with this one. If he was a year younger I think this would be a fantastic way to learn! It's a quality toy!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The vibrant colors and durable construction make it a hit with both kids and parents. The engaging tapping action helps develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination in a fun and interactive way. Plus, the variety of patterns and shapes keeps little ones entertained for hours. It's a definite winner in our household!
I really like the concept of this and my 2 year old granddaughter is very interested in it but 2 of the tops often don't work. What we've found with ours is that the red top almost always spins well, the green top sometimes spins and the blue top almost never works —it just falls through to the bottom. So it gets very frustrating. I don't know if this is true for others or if there's a glitch in the one I purchased. If all the tops worked fairly consistently I would have given this at least 4 stars, possibly 5.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids and I usually love Melissa and Doug toys but this one fell short. It is well built but the toy itself isn't very entertaining. All of my kids used for less than 5 minutes and then forgot about it.
