Custom shade vintage cabinet makeover on

KMR Refinishing June 17, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Refinished vintage family hutch. Did a custom color by mixing weathered oak with rustic beige. Used prestain conditioner and poly finish. Very happy with how it turned out. The stain went on easy no blotches.

Great product, easy application, great finish!

Ricky56 November 24, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use Gunstock 231 for most of my finishes. I love the look it adds to oak. Between the penetrating stain and the Minwax water based Poly, two great products.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using Minwax oil base stains for years now, as a wood furniture finisher I really think this is the best option you can go with! Is spreads easily, cleans easily and is incredibly durable once sealed.

Great colors & stain

wiky October 2, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a basket maker and teacher. I have all my students stain their baskets with Minwax because it is oil-based and works well on reed (which dyes like cotton). I have tried other products and after using Minwax I would never use any other product.

Guitar Sunburst Finish Repair with an Air Brush

Bob52 April 18, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I repair damaged guitars for friends, and often need to fix or replace a sunburst color gradient around the edge of a guitar top. This requires me to match the lightest color in the center, and cause it to get gradually darker, until it matches the darkest color at the outside edge of the top. Minwax Wood Finish is perfect for this task. Perfect because it comes in a wide range of colors, and ALL of them can be mixed together without any problems. So I can spray a light color in the middle, then add a drop of the next darker color and spray again. Then another drop darker, and spray again. I mix the colors to match the original sunburst. When the sunburst colors look right, I let it dry for several days before I clear-coat it with lacquer. I use a Binks air brush at a high pressure to spray the Minwax colors. The high pressure allows me to get a gentle mist of color that just falls down onto the guitar top, with very little volume of stain. I practice the color gradient by spraying first onto a white sheet of paper. The low volume mist gives me good control of the color variations. See the two photos of my recent repair of a 1980 Epiphone Genesis guitar that had suffered a large hole in the top, and needed some engineering to strengthen the top from the inside. Minwax Wood Finish was the perfect finish to fix this classic guitar.

Walmart shipping %26 customer service stinks!!

LISA April 15, 2024

I received an order from Walmart. Can spilled all over. Also on soap I ordered. Customer service rep wants me to send back empty can. Said he couldn't see any spilling in picture. Terrible customer service rep. Just plain rude . Walmart look at pictures and tell me that it wasn't spilled by FedEx.
