Dehydrated Vegetable Soup Blend, Emergency Food, 1 Qt Mylar Bag

Mother Earth Products are high quality and taste great. I use the dehydrated vegetables in soups and cook them directly in my rice cooker while making rice. Can use them for so many recipes. Fresh and well packed.

If this came in anything but this bag I would have given it 5 *. I don't like the bag. The roduct is okay. I like the Mother Eart vegetable blend better. Just okay.

Item arrived with a overwhelming fabric softener aroma. I inspected the package and you could see the bag had obviously been laying in a fabric softener or laundry soap. I did have a bottle of soap ship in the same box but it wasn't leaking and is an earthy scent not floral like Downey fabric softener. I let the shipping box air out, I let the package of dried vegetable soup mix air out for a few days before using it. They had a soapy taste and were chewy. Maybe they needed to boil longer. I didn't notice until after eating my soup that the package had a tiny hole in it, so I don't know if whatever was all over the package that smelt like fabric softener possibly got in the bag and on some of the dried pieces causing it to taste like soap. I'm going dump the package out onto a paper towel to air out and if the aroma goes away, I'll try it again and boil it longer.

I bought this because it looked like a quick way to make soup and it did not have any salt added. I boiled and boiled it, and the pieces were still hard and leathery. So I let it sit to soak and boiled some more and they never did soften up. I can't image someone taking this on a camping trip and having the time and means to boil this forever to make it edible. The only plus is that it smells good.

I thought these would be so great to use when you cook ramen but I was completely wrong. At first you get a wow it smells like vegetable soup. Well that is not what you get once you use them. The taste is awful and it left some kind of residue around my bowl. All around it was just a bad idea. Now I'm kicking myself because I should have just took a little more time to find a better product.
