This made a major game changer in my life . Not having WiFi or internet for many months. Due to xfinity. Coverage is also speed is perfect connection is easy. I can be miles away and see how well the system is protection me . Highly recommend it. Set up I needed help since I am a woman and wanted to make everything right . I am so happy that I was recommended to purchase these !
Order arrived same day just what I needed waiting to have it hooked up product arrived in perfect condition can't wait to put it to use
no problems
It's unacceptable that you have to pay money after you buy their product to get support. We are older we don't understand these things and we should not have to pay for service when you buy something from a company.
The design is OK, Performance is pretty good. I had trouble out of the box getting the satellites to link to the router. Spent over an hour on the phone with support and after multiple factory resets and syncs (20 ) they finally connected. Once setup was complete they have worked well. It just shouldn't be that hard to get them connected. If I hadn't gotten this on black Friday for $99, I would have bought the Google Nest Mesh for $30 more than this item's regular price.
Setting this up was a nightmare. One of the satellites had a corrupt firmware and trying to get a replacement was the absolute worst. Netgear customer service is terrible. Too many bad things to type. Forty five days after purchasing I finally have a working satellite and an ulcer.
I had to contact Netgear's service department to get help in setting up one of the satellite units. It did not connect to the router as it should have and the other one did. After spending much time on the phone with Netgear's representative, I finally managed to get the satellite unit to function. They told me that the whole system was manufactured in 2019 and that it was completely out of date and no longer manufactured. It uses an out-of-date Wi-Fi format called Wi-Fi 5 instead of more current Wi-Fi 6 format, which is faster and can handle more connections.
I'm an IT professional and I would not recommend these to anyone. Speeds when connected to the points are terrible even when placed not too far apart, around 65mbps when I have a 300mbps line and when connected to the third point it drops to 25mbps. The router doesn't allow you to change the 5ghz channels to see if you can get around interference so it's practically useless. It's stuck on channel 157. Also the main router never had speeds close to my initial speed of 300mbps , I was getting half. Returned immediately.
I got this unit and couldn't get one satellite to connect so I called orbi and they told me the unit I bought was a 2019 model and couldn't be updated and to return it.
Tried two different sets since I wanted this to work so bad for the Black Friday price. Sadly, I could not get both satellites to work with either set, even when I set everything up in the same room, less than 2 feet from each other. One set could get 1/2 to connect, the other 0/2. Pitiful and a giant waste of time.
