I am often looking for ways to simplify my cooking and life with good seasoning made easy. This old bay didnt disappoint. A little goes a long way into creating a cultivating taste for chicken or pork. This has now been added to my kitchen and I dont know how I went so long without knowing all about it
I received this free in exchange for my honest review. I made cod filets with it last night and honestly I did not notice that it had less sodium. I did not notice a huge difference at all when using the classic Old Bay Seasoning vs using the reduced sodium one. Yes I used both to make sure I was giving a honest review between it and the original. I think overall since I did not notice a big difference between the two; I think I prefer the reduced sodium one. I can honestly say it is almost identical to the original which to me is a good thing. It seasoned the cod well and I can see myself using it for several seafood dishes in the future. Itis one way I try to help keep my husband's blood pressure down is by reducing his sodium which is hard because I like salt alot. This didn't have the artificial chemical taste that some versions of reduced sodium seasoning has to me so I was very pleased. It still gives the classic red color to the seafood if you use a lot like I tend to.
It delivers the classic Old Bay flavor with noticeably less salt, allowing the spices to shine without overpowering food. It's versatile on seafood, vegetables, eggs, and meats, and makes it easier to season generously while controlling sodium. While slightly milder than the original, it preserves the familiar taste and offers better balance and flexibility for everyday cooking. My family loves it so much.
I have always loved Old Bay seasoning, and this less sodium version is perfect! I am very sensitive to sodium and salty seasonings in general. I avoid most seasonings due to the high sodium content and too salty flavor. However, this Reduced Sodium Old Bay is great!!
Initial reaction to the seasoning was surprisingly good. I honestly didn't know what to expect but I'm pleased to say the seasoning works well with meat and seafood boils. I have used this product enough to get and overall take and I would give this product a 6/10.
I love this product for any type of meat, I personally think it was amazing when I baked Swai and steak fries, it's even good on fries too. What I really love about this seasoning is that you don't need a lot to get a great flavor on your food, a little goes a long way. I definitely recommend to family, friends, and restaurants to use on their food, you will definitely want to make this a regular seasoning to keep in stock
I love the flavor of original Old Bay but sometimes the salt can be a bit overpowering. This 30% lower sodium blend delivers the same amount of flavor but with less extra salt, and still tastes great. I like to add this in a boil pot of crabs or sprinkle it on top of french fries. Yum !
By not communicating with me as the customer for substitution the product was not worth the money.
1st off, I should have read the reviews before buying this but I ASSumed... it's food, it's walmart.. not a seller and so the only issue may be I might not like it having never had it before and that would be my own issue, not the product but what could possibly be wrong in delivering a SEASONING. WELL....as the other reviews said - SIZE...I seen this in my very close by store now than double the size for $5.49 so when I saw the $3 and change price tag - I ASSumed it was that size. Walmart is usually great at having the same items as other stores at a much better price and the store near me is much more expensive than your regular grocery store. Its VERY VERY small for the price abd I'm attaching photos with it on between a small 2 oz bottle of modge podge you get at dollar tree and a tiny 50 mil NIP from my liquor store - this is SMALLER than that. THE PHOTO IS VERY DECEIVING. But again, I chalk that up to being my fault for not reading the size that's on the container in the picture - it does say 2 oz. My fault. But I'm PRETTY SURE food items are supposed to have some kind of seal on it under the lid. Idk in this case because I've never bought this before and don't know anybody who ever has and it doesn't show in the pictures on here but mine didn't have any seal. You open the lid and the it's all exposed under there. This was also in a paper bag... there was NOTHING to ensure it's never been opened and never been used even though it does appear to be full and unused- I'm not taking that chance on ingesting something that may have been spit in at the store, swapped with something else and returned or god knows what put in it. I don't know what it is supposed to taste like so wouldn't ever know unless I got sick. I'm not happy between the deceiving photo on the dust, the size for the price, the unsanitary issue being unsealed and not even in a closed anything upon delivery. I ordered it SHIPPING...per my FREE shipping being a plus member so I expect it to be shipped SEALED IN A package, box or CLOSED bag and the item being food -be sealed under the bag. I am calling them right now to start a return. I'm not using this. I hope somebody out there reads these reviews before they buy theirs and at least SEE my pics and KNOW the SIZE it really is before ordering. Theft Google search what this usually costs .... this price is what double this size goes for from what I seen in the store. This is expensive.
arrived damaged the lid is broken.
