Philips Hue Dimmer Switch

Philips Hue Dimmer Switch has been such a game changer for my home lighting! It makes controlling the lights so effortless no more getting up and turning the lights on/off or reaching for apps or dealing with multiple switches. The setup was quick, and it works seamlessly with my Hue lights

Congratulations Phillips, you have made one of the most poorly designed products ever! The only thing this is good for is dimming. The on/off switch does not support my strip remembering previous settings. Set it to 1% nightlight so as to not wake up the wife, turn it off and when you turn it back on it goes to 100% white! It does not support cycling thru *my* scenes, instead it cycles thru four pre-programmed garish *Hue* scenes. Even the layout of buttons is wrong — every dimmer I've ever seen puts the on/off button on the bottom of the switch. This one has it at the top. As if that's not enough, there are bugs in how it works, with one switch sometimes controlling multiple lights despite being set-up for one light only. Bottom line, this is another Hue product that's overpriced, buggy and barely usable because no thought was given as to how people actually use it. Unbelievably bad product. I wish there were better alternatives.

Perfect accessory for Hue lighting. Easy to setup and just needs a battery every 2-3 years to operate my 10 lights. I prefer the tactile touch for turning on my lights over using the app on my iPhone.

Sigh .. I was used to the old ones, but these work just fine. I have them because I have guests in my home and don't want them accidentally turning on and off my lighting or utilities without my knowledge (And for those who are not too good with apps, this is a good alternative.). The guest suite has these now on the wall. It works as I expect them to work.

Even though the product works with the v1 hub, the Hue app for that hub won't set it up. No mention in the setup instructions for the switch or app that it won't setup. Things look like they pair (and do in the background) even though setup doesn't complete. Fortunately there are 3rd party apps that allow the switch to be configured, and then it can be used as expected. Just a pain when you don't realize that's what you're going to have to do. Why leave the option to pair accessories in the app if it won't work? Just lazy on Philips part. Not a big fan of the fact that rather than allow local setup of a new switch in their 1st party app, Philips would rather you buy a whole new and unneeded hub to use it. Fine if they don't want to support rule downloads from the web for it, but bake them into the app or let me do it manually after pairing, as the switch did pair. I know the v1 hub is no longer supported, but I expect devices that I purchase to continue to work past support when there's no reason to hobble them other than trying to get more money out of me. I'm learning which companies provide decent support for their products after they arbitrarily decide people should pay them again for an unnecessary shinier new version. Philips is better than some than just brick a paid for device, but not as good as others.

Light switch works perfectly, with ability to choose 5 custom scenes from the Hue Button - very convenient. Philips - if you see this review, please offer a switch cover plate to be able to store the remote over an existing light switch while at same time preventing someone from turning off the wall switch.

Dimmer switch works as it should, makes it easy to have local manual control and still retain smart features, previous smart bulb kept getting turned off at the wall switch rendering smart features useless. I found a magnetic switch cover online that will cover the existing wall switch and allow the remote to be attached preventing the walls switch from being accidently turned off, yet removable for servicing if needed. Will be buying more dimmers for the rest of the house.

Love the product, just wish the sticky pads in the back were a little stronger. The product makes it much more convenient for both App users and non users to be able to control turning on/off lights and controlling brightness. Always having to use the app for these common features tends to be a bit tedious so this improves my family and my overall satisfaction with installing Hue lighting in many areas around the house.

I bought two Philips Hue Dimmer Switches. One of them worked perfectly, but the second one didn't work at all (tried resetting it, etc.). I had to return the defective one. The one that works is great! Controls my lights without a hub, easy installation, nice design. 5/5. Might buy another one in the future to replace the defective one.
