Philips Hue Dimmer Switch has been such a game changer for my home lighting! It makes controlling the lights so effortless no more getting up and turning the lights on/off or reaching for apps or dealing with multiple switches. The setup was quick, and it works seamlessly with my Hue lights
Best product to make like easier with smart bulbs !
Light switch works perfectly, with ability to choose 5 custom scenes from the Hue Button - very convenient. Philips - if you see this review, please offer a switch cover plate to be able to store the remote over an existing light switch while at same time preventing someone from turning off the wall switch.
The hue switches work great and they are easy to sync with your hue system. They are very fast and I like the fact that the light dims down very low with the dimmer button. My only complaint is the switch does not fit in a regular wall plate. if you have multiple switches side-by-side, the hue switch won't fit unless you buy a custom wallplate which will cost you about $40 for the plate. Hue Needs to fix this with the next generation release.
I had to wait for these to come back in stock. They were worth the wait, though. I have a set of colored bulbs in my office/man-cave, and a set of white bulbs in the dining room. While we have a dimmer switch for the bulbs in our dining room, it wasn't really set up to support LED dimmers, so we'd get a lot of random flickering at lower levels. This solves that problem without having to rewire. As for the office, it's just nice and convenient having the switch rather than having to use the app on my phone. The level of customization of the Hue bulbs and the flexibility of this switch make a good combination to give the preferred amount of lighting at any time.
Old version was better. That Hue option is horrible.
Some quality improvements over the prior model dimmer swich. Actual switch now has magnets (prior model only had magnets in the wall mount). Like the addition of the Hue button which will turn on light scenes based on the time of day. Do wish the power button could be used to toggle between 5 preset scenes and turn off selected lights when long pressed. Currently the only long press option is to turn off ALL lights in your home & you have to choose either scene cycle or time based scenes for the Hue button. Would love to see these features be added through a future software update.
It's handy, and I like it, but it has some problems in the app. The scene icons don't match the actual colors, and it limits scene cycling to 5 instead of the higher limit which the tap switch has, seemingly for no reason. And have fun replacing the battery when it dies.
The old switch was better. I get it, there is a single toggle for ON and OFF. But the family gets confused and doesn't understand that the "Phillips" button is used to cycle through scenes. I do get why they put a dedicated button for this, but in my opinion, I prefer the old dimmer better because at least normal people know how to operate it. If there is a version 3, it should be a 5 button switch with an On and Off. Buttons to dim up and dim down. Then put a single button in the middle to use as a dedicated "cycle through scenes" button. Also, the cradle for these switches (both v1 and v2) are kinda useless. I guess they are OK if you want to tape it to a wall (but who wants to do that), but it should be designed to fit over standard switches to cover them. There is a 3rd party that makes these, but of course they changed the design from V1 and V2, and so it gets confusing to make sure you have the correct 3rd party plate for the switch you want (cumbersome if you have some old v1s in the house and then get some v2s)
It doesn't work!! Setup instructions say go to Hue app settings -> accessories. But Hue app settings does not have a prompt for accessories. Infuriating. Sent note to Hue online help. No response. I'll never buy a Philips product again!
