Its nutty flavor is great and all that it needs so it is simple; no wonder it is over a hundred years old. You do not have to add anything. I prefer it hot so it is soft and easy to chew. Make it with nearly as much milk as cereal (possibly adding a little oil and sugar) and microwave for 90 seconds for a cup of ingredients.
I have a long history of harmful allergic reactions to white sugar and refined flour. I am now 77 years old and it took me till last year on October 17, 2025 to decide that I would no longer (one day at a time) consume products with those items in it. I have to be very cautious about reading labels. Grape-nuts cereal is a product I can fully trust. I can't have the flake variety because it contains white sugar and most likely processed flour.
Great cereal with simple ingredients you can pronounce. No artificial flavors or colors. Simple basic cereal that's also a great topping for Greek yogurt or chia pudding. Unlike vast majority of cereals Grape-Nuts are not dessert posing as breakfast.
Still one of my childhood favorites !!! ... good with cold or hot milk !!! Super Tasty !!! Especially nice that you can add your own sweetener if desired. Have added it to salads, cookie dough, mashed potatoes and meat loaf (before I was a vegetarian) and more ... still love this versatile cereal ...
I love grape nuts. Always have but because of having more fragile teeth I will now put milk and fruit in them and warm for a minute so they're less crunchy. But when shopping look for the best price per ounce. I accidentally got the family size when there was a “bonus” size available for a better value.
This and raisin brand is the only cold serial I eat. Quality product with great nutty barley taste. Try with bananas or honey...or both. My wife puts it in yoghurt and loves it.
All cereal should be less expensive, but especially Grape-Nuts. After the brutally downsized and shrinkflation, normal package, they finally offer this bigger box. Now you can have cereal lasting more than two breakfast days.
My mom was not a great cook. The one thing she did make was a substitute for fried chicken, baking it using grape nuts still taste the same and I love it.
This is a VERY GOOD cereal!! It is EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD in the health department because it is quite high in fiber which is very good for the body to keep the digestive system on track!! This cereal, to my knowledge, has the BEST CRUNCH to it compared to ANY OTHER CEREAL IN THE WORLD!!! Sometimes I buy Grape Nut just because of the super-satisfying crunch - not to mention it's great taste!! It's not really intended for kids, but I don't see why a small bowl of it wouldn't hurt them. Like I said it is high in fiber and also is high in other nutrients making it a very healthy cereal!! You could put strawberries or marshmallows on top to spice it up if you want - whatever you like!! Thank you Walmart!!
I love Grapenuts. However, the bag inside the box, was not sealed properly. I just opened the box yesterday. I couldn't figure out what was happening until there was cereal all over my counter and floor. I tipped the box upright, but the cereal was still flowing freely. That's when I had my “DUH” moment. I turned the box over and kept it flat; I then saw the hole at the seam. I purchased it from Walmart. I'm still within the 90 day return period, but I can't find the info on how to report it so I can get a refund. I hope someone ‘in the know' will read this and either just provide my refund, or get it to someone who can.
