Had been looking for a stainless steel pressure cooker for a while. Had bought an aluminum one from WM but decided I would rather have stainless steel. Took it back and ordered this one. Am very glad I did. It was easy to order and arrived before I thought it would. Wouldn't hesitate to order another one if I need it.
I waited to write a review until I had used this product. It performed well and as advertised. I have made the beef stew recipe that was in the recipe book that came with the cooker. Pretty tasty. I followed the directions and it performed just as I expected it to. I bought this cooker mainly to cook dried beans quickly and expect it to perform just as well for that. I would recommend this cooker for someone who doesn't have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen as it cooks quickly and efficiently.
This is going to be great for making quick and healthy meals both winter and summer. I only wish it was a little short and wider. This is still a great item and the price is good. I looked around a lot before purchasing this one and great thing is having it delivered right to my door.
My wife purchased this for her mother and she is extremly happy with the stainless steel cooker over her old 40 year old aluminum cooker. She always loved it, but says she wished she would've known and had the SS years earlier. She started using it the next day and says it is great.
I am replacing an eight quart pressure cooker. It's too darn heavy and difficult to store. This smaller cooker fits the bill - easier for me to lift, especially when full and it fits in my cabinet. A selling point for me is Presto has been around for years and will be easy to get parts as needed.
I love my Presto Pressure Cooker. I had one for 45 or more years before this one and it finally gave out on me. I then tried both T-Fel and Fagor and returned them both. I finally found this one at Walmart and I am extremely happy with it. The only thing I find different is the shape of it. My prior 6-quart was larger at the bottom than my new one and the rack is not a stand-up rack as my other one, which I really liked. The old rack does not fit in the bottom of my new pressure cooker. That's how I know it is much narrower on the bottom.
I have a large Presto pressure cooker for canning which I have used for many years, but this smaller one is for cooking food fast that would otherwise would take a long time. This will save in electricity and heat in my kitchen in the summer, since the electric stove can be on for a much shorter period. I bought a stainless steel pot so that I know it will be safer for cooking all types of foods. It is so efficient. I do think the directions of when to start timing could have been clearer. I had to read several pages before it said to count the time from when it starts rocking. I could have guessed that from my experience with the canner but it should be on the instructions for use page, not buried in the booklet.
My wife reviewed the choices of pressure cookers sold by Walmart and chose this one because of its size, handle design and other features. She has used it four times in the ~ three weeks we have had it. She is very pleased with the cooker. Her only reservation is regarding the amount of time it takes to cool on its own after use. Until cooled sufficiently, the cooker cannot be opened because of its pressure-lock safety feature.
I wish i had gotten the 8 quart model, but this is wonderful for smaller batches / roasts. it really does keep meat moist while making it tender!!! Potatoes done in 12 minutes! I wish i had gotten it long ago. for a family bigger than 4, you would definitely want the 8 quart model. I am very happy with my purchase. cleans so easily, with it being stainless steel, non-reactive with foods. if you know that the 6 quart model is big enough for your family, this is the one to buy. the ordering was easy and arrival time was spot on. Walmart customer service was great.
i have used the same pressure cooker for 45 years. i put off replacing it (4qt aluminum) for a larger stainless steel. i just knew it would never match the quality of what i have been using all these years. i was pleasantly surprised when it arrived in the mail. it appears of great quality--especially for the price. i had tried a fagor once, but returned it. i never could get it to seal. i only wish it had a pressure relief valve. that is why i have giving it a 4 star. otherwise--i love it. and getting replacement parts will be simple.
