Very compact and small doesn't take up a lot of space. Shreds cheese blocks very quick and easy to clean
This is a classic and essential kitchen tool. Our original and heavily used finally wore down after many years and we were lucky to see this available. Well worth the inexpensive price.
I have really enjoyed this salad shooter since all these fresh vegetables are coming in right now. I have sliced zucchini and yellow squash mostly and cooked together with onion and peppers and a little coconut oil, salt and black pepper. It slices perfect every time. I like the way it slices carrots thin for salads. Very satisfied with my new kitchen toy.
My first salad shooter was purchased in 1990 and lasted me until 2009. I live in Canada and it is not available here in the stores so I had to purchase in the states as I did originally. This purchase through Walmart.com was for 3 of my friends that wanted one, so I ordered it to be sent to a store where I was vacationing. What a great service. I know that they will be just as happy as I am with mine. I actually only use mine for shredding cheese super fast and without slicing into my fingernails with a traditional slicer. My kids use it too without any safety concerns. It goes into the top rack of dishwasher and I couldn't live without it. If you make meals using cheese often, I highly recommend this machine. The basic model costs only around $29.00 and well worth it.
I love to make homemade macaroni and cheese and like to buy the chunks of Craker Barrel cheese but always hated having to grate the cheese myself (I make a large quantity at a time) so I bought this salad shooter to do the work for me. I went into it having reservations as it seems nothing made today works properly but after using only once so far I'm very impressed with how quick it worked and it grated the cheese to a nice size for my use. I was also impressed with how simple the cleanup was. Because there aren't many parts to the machine, It's very simple to clean and it's dishwasher safe. I would definately recommend this to anyone.
I had a salad shooter many years ago, given to me by my mother as a gift and I loved it. When I got married I took it with me. Back in 2008, my husband and I moved and somehow my husband managed to accidentally throw it away. Since then I've wanted one but never saw any in stores. I finally looked online and found I could order one there. The first thing I did was make hash browns for our breakfast. Back when I had my old salad shooter, there was just one model, now there are many, but I just ordered the one I had before. It's simple, very easy to use, and convenient. I mostly use it for potatoes and shredding carrots for carrot cake, but I love it.
Package was as described, the only issue was they did not package into a shipping box. So there are shipping labels stuck all over the box, this is a gift and I had to try to make it look as good as I could with labels all over it
I've just shredded cheese with this so far, but was impressed with how well it worked. That's why I gave it only four stars. If it works this well with vegetables it will definitely be a five. But for shredding cheese it's great for someone with arthritis and carpal tunnel in both hands. I would recommend getting this just for cheese shredding alone!
I used one of these for 10 years, which my mother had for years until she died and recently it the plastic ring broke. I just thought I would look it up on line just in case I could find something similar before I threw out the directions. Lo and behold, there it was the very same thing with the same brand. It is handy, small and saves my wrists and hands from hurting when I do grating and slicing salad stuff. If this one lasts the same as the last one, then I'm good for 20 years now.
this is my second Shooter. I've used this only once and must say it is not as well made as the original. The blades do not cut as well causing you to have to press harder causing the motor to strain and the rotating cutting basket to move away and allowing food to slip behind it. I only chopped onions and it all came out as mush. Not happy with this purchase. I think company profits came before quality.
