I have owned several different "handsfree" cordless can opener over the years. This one is the Absolute Best one I have ever owned. Attributes include: Easy to use, works like a charm, easy to store, rechargeable...the list could go on and on. I highly recommend this can opener.
The ease of use with this Proctor Silex 'hands free' cordless electric can opener is a 'hit' with my husband who has arthritis in his hands and can no longer use a manual can opener. I like its small footprint so it takes up very little countertop/storage space in our small kitchen. Another feature I like is that it's USB rechargeable so no need to buy batteries or deal with a cord! I finished charging it completely before I first used it. You place it on top of the can as instructions show, push the power button and it moves itself around the top of the can. When it's done it shuts off automatically. Then there is a little built-in lid lifter on the side of the opener that works great...just slip it in the opened seam on the outside top of the can lid and the lid pops right up. There are no sharp edges can so even a child can safely handle the opened can.
About this because I'm lazy and I don't have a lot of electrical outlets in my kitchen. It works great. It takes sometimes a bit for it to catch and cut off the lid but just know it cuts the lid from the outside so if you're trying to strain something it doesn't really work as well as the can't openers that'll cut from the inside, but I'm not sure on the battery operated ones if any actually cut from the inside so I have to use a strainer.
I've had this can opener for over a month and haven't needed to recharge it yet. It works effortlessly every time and opens cans smoothly. It is a bit noisy, but it gets the job done well. Great product for anyone with limited hand mobility or arthritis.
This can opener, despite being obnoxiously loud, works great. If it was a little quieter, it would get 5 stars all around. With that said, I still highly recommend it. It leaves no sharp edges and can be placed in a cabinet or drawer when not in use.
i like it... but its a little hard to use the first time couoke times. it does look like it works but it does... it opens the can from the SIDE, not the top like a traditional can opener. Use the little lid opener to lift off the lid. be careful, the can and lid can be sharp.
Needed a new opener. After exhausting research< I chose this one for its "ease of use." Although it does cut the lid in a safe manner, it is difficult to remove the cut lid from the can. You can, as suggested, use the very small piece that sticks out that is to assist with prying the lid away from the glue. I have used a hand crank model with the same issue(s). I had a hook that actually assisted in the removal, where this one does not work without spilling the contents in the process. I use a separate opener to complete the lid removal. It is VERY loud as it opens the can and takes about eight to ten seconds to complete the process. Overall, this is a decent opener for the price.
I did not receive the can opener it was delivered to the incorrect address as the photo clearly shows I contacted Walmart and they refused to issue a refund and insist I received it they refused to look at the photo clearly showing a different address than mine it clearly is not my home not my door this is a nightmare
I never received the can opener insist delivered yet it was clearly delivered to wrong address the photo is clearly not my home not my door upsetting Walmart refused to issue refund I refuse to pay for anything I did not receive Walmart is poor customer service
I'm of the opinion that handheld powered can openers are useless. At least for opening cans with a pull tab. I had thought I'd finally found one that worked on all cans as advertised. But unfortunately I was wrong again. I'm elderly and my hands don't allow me to use a manual can opener and this is the fifth one I've tried in the the last eight months. Our cats will just have to be satisfied with dry food.
