I prefer charcoal grilling over gas grilling. It just gives your food the smoky grilled taste you can't get from propane gas. These briquets light easy, burn clean and last long, about 60-90 minutes of cooking time depending on the amount you use. For those like me who want even more smoky flavor , I suggest adding apple, mesquite or hickory chips. I use the stacking method till the coals were ashed over then spread them out for even heating. Also those cylinder charcoal starters are very handy if you have one.
This is great charcoal! As an avid griller I have always preferred using charcoal. Yet this is my first experience with hardwood charcoal. I found this to be an excellent product combining hardwood with charcoal. It lit easily and burned slowly. It's the best of both worlds if you are limited to a grill but enjoy the smell and taste of hardwood. I highly recommend this product and am going back to Walmart for more.
Fast starting charcoal briquets, burns hot and lasts as long as any other brand! You get a large bag that will last many grilling days. Great for charcoal BBQ's!
I remember as a child those grand summertime cookouts when family got together and set up lawn chairs and tables outside in the grass. The centerpiece of the event was the large round grill which was filled up with a large bag of black charcoal, then they were soaked in lighter fluid, set aflame, then let to sit for awhile until they were turning gray. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and steaks sizzled away and you couldn't wait until they where done so you could chow down at the table with homemade potato salad. Cooking this way was a seldom enjoyed, unique experience and the food always tasted so much better than you could make on the stovetop or oven. To complicate matters, these days most people prefer to cook outdoors on propane gas grills. These are convenient, easy to work with, and deliver good tasting grilled food. However, there is no substitute for the old-fashioned charcoal grilled meal. When you take the time to do it right, nothing else even comes close. Royal Oak has been making charcoal products for a long time and they know their craft. These Natural Hardwood Charcoal Briquets are easy to work with. They heat up fast and last a long time so you can cook for many people late into the day. I've sampled good steak and hamburgers cooked over these and the taste is heavenly. You'll get those familiar black grill lines imbedded on the meat and that juicy, smoke-tinged flavor is unlike anything else. These days we don't cook out very often and most of us use propane grills. But when you use the old style charcoal grill, your cookout will be talked about for days afterward.
I saved this bag to try out for a birthday barbeque and it was fantastic. It lit easily and was a pleasure to use. We used it for hot dogs and hamburgers for a few hours and they came out terrific. The food cooked evenly and tasted great. I would definitely purchase in the future.
We used Royal all charcoal briquets for Mother's Day BBQ. Same recipes for bbq chicken wings and ribs were used. However they taste better because of the hardwood charcoal briquets. The royal oaks made the food really smoky and nice. I will definitely get some more at next bbq.
We love the Royal Oak brand for BBQing! The briquets are great and our food always taste amazing! This was the first time we tried hardwood briquets and my husband says we are buying these from now on!
So I am very happy to write a review for this charcoal. So I went and purchased this 16lb bag of all natural hardwood charcoal briquettes. I am pleased with how well they burn. It took me a min 1st time using would recommend this charcoal to anyone looking to cook out.
The briquets are small and most are crumbled. They burn incredibly fast and do not hold heat. I had to add more charcoal in order to keep the temp at 300° Serves me right for not going to another store for Kingsford instead of trying this bag o'crap. Booooooo!
There are far more superior products on the market now. It burns up way to quickly now.
