Sauder Heritage Hill Executive Desk, Classic Cherry Finish

This desk is everything I expected. The quality is above what I expected and it looks nice. I took my time with the assembly, and the instructions were perfect - the drawings were good and I didn't have any assembly problems or missing parts. All the pieces were packed especially well - no scratches or dings, even though it's a heavy box (~200 pounds). Once put together, all the pieces fit well - and the super large work surface is impressive. I'm actually thinking about buying another one. By the way, the top middle drawer is advertised to be a keyboard drawer, but, functions fine as a normal drawer. The drawers move in and out smoothly and the slides and glides are good quality. One thing I did which perhaps made assembly easier for me - I carefully removed all the pieces and laid them out on the floor, then jumped to the steps to put the drawers together first. This took about 2 hours, and then the next morning I assembled the rest. This is a nice desk - take your time putting it together and you'll be happy.

It is a great home office desk when you buy it at a sub $300 price. comparable furniture outlet items are more than twice the price. But paying more than that is somewhat pricey. Assembling was a breeze once you take the time to identify and segregate the parts.

sauder heritage hill executive desk great desk very easy to put together it do take about 6 to 8 hrs. to do so the instruction booklet that comes with is very easy to read step by step all the hardware come in a big pack sheet for every little step you take every hardware is in its owns little mark pack with the right number of screw for each step cannot make it any easier all the wood pcs. are very well marked ,packed well I had it ship to Walmart store came in very fast only thing I needed help with to get the 200 pound box in the house so I in box every thing outside made it easy over all great desk and very well boxed up for shipment I love the desk cant go wrong

As other reviewers have said, there are two big negatives associated with this desk--it's made out of particle board, not wood, and it takes quite a while to put together. On the other hand, it's a very good looking desk, highly functional, well-thought-out, and sells for under $350--when a solid wood desk of similar size would sell for three or four times that amount (at least!). Putting it together was also well thought-out. Screw holes are drilled in precisely the right location, and when things don't line up *perfectly*, it simply means you've misunderstood the directions and need to stop and think a while before continuing. I could have made several mistakes along the way, but the desk never let me do it. I've built several other Sauder pieces in the past and found them to look good over time--so long as they don't get moved. I saw on review in which the writer cautioned about this, and he was exactly right. I built the desk within a foot of where I wanted to place it when it was done, and I'm glad I did. Not only is it very heavy (although my wife and I were able to move it a very short distance together, and she is not physically strong), but it appeared to me that things would start coming apart if it needed to be moved very much. In summary, if you accept the constraints with this desk, it's a terrific desk for the money--it looks very nice and is very functional.

This is a beautiful desk. It is very well made and a great addition to my office.. It took about eight hours to assemble it. All parts were there and directions were very clear.

The only problem I had with the desk was getting the drawers to fit properly. Took a little effort but it finally worked out. I'm pleased with the product.

I bought three separate items from this company. I first received the credenza, no issues and was able to put it together quickly. Than the hutch came in, and a piece was scratched because it was not packaged correctly. I tried to assemble prior to Thanksgiving and they would not be able to send the part quick enough to get this done prior to family coming. Then this desk came in and the real problems started. The large piece of the desk, the top black piece came in with a very large scratch on it. I had to call again for a replacement piece. That came in a few days later and I continued putting it together. I got to the drawer part and there was a piece with the small drawer that was not factory drilled for the screws to go in. Another phone call now needs to be made to the company. Their customer service is prompt but they never offer anything to compensate the customer. If I could easily take this desk back, I would in a heartbeat. Buyer beware.
