Scotts Turf Builder LawnSoil, 1 cu. ft., Contains Fertilizer

First thing I noticed was how rich it looked coming out of the bag. I used the Scotts Turf Builder LawnSoil, 1 cu. ft. bag to fill in the holes and low spots in my yard. It is an awesome product, in no time the grass started growing after applying it. There are a lot of sticks and sawdust mixed in but you need that to bind in with the dirt. I do recommend it if you want to fill in or add to your yards bare spots.

This product is perfect for bear spots in your lawn all you have to do is sprinkle a little of the soil on and add your grass seed and you don't have to worry about mixing the right amount of fertilizer and burning your new lawn or grass.. It has the perfect amount of starter fertilizer already mixed right with the soil which makes it ready to use after you spread it on your bear spot in your lawn and then just add Your lawn sod or seed.

We have a super sandy yard. It’s very patchy but we are trying to bring it back to life. We recently had a cold snap in Florida and most of our grass turned brown. We spread this out in a small area to test it out. It worked really well. It’s super easy to use and get started. We will definitely be getting some more bags.

I got to try the Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Soil 1cu ft. This is based on my opinion only. It does not contain the grass seed. It's for lawn repair or over seeding. It helps grow grass 50% thicker. I have a huge dog and between the stains and her running she has tore up my grass. We filled in the bald and stained spots and filled in all the spots she's dug into from running and laid grass seed. It's really made a huge difference. It's a big bag and does alot of area. The starter fertilizer is already in it. It's great for seed, sod and grass plugs. It's made a huge difference in a short amount of time. If your looking for something to help improve the look of your yard, I definitely would recommend this.

I had no idea making my lawn look better was so easy. Just read the package, follow directions, and you will be pleasantly surprised like us. I love the brand, always trust their products and I grew up using this brand with my parents so I shared the information with them too. No gross smell. Bag was a perfect size to carry easy and even though I dropped it , it did not break open.

I got the Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Soil- 1 cubic feet, that contains fertilizer to fill in the holes in my yard that my dog (and her puppy friends when they are on play dates) because she is digging… and no, she is not bored- just very energetic and naughty… anyway, this soil was perfect for the task. It did not smell terrible / and came off of my hands easily (yes- I needed gloves but forgot to get them- so I just used my hands). It probably would also be perfect if I was trying to pot my plants into new containers, as it seemed very fresh and perfect for those situations. I was able to carry it- so it was not too heavy, but I would definitely need some serious muscle if I had to carry the amount needed to actually plant in my back yard. I felt that this soil was perfect for the newer gardeners (or just the pet parents looking to make their yards look better- and was perfect in that there were no pieces of mulch or rocks or sticks taking up space in the bag- literally JUST the soil! I would say that this was a great package of soil- and I recommend it for anyone needing soil!

Turf Builder soil can be used one of two ways. Either to apply over grass seed or to repair patches in existing lawn. I used this product to cover grass seed. Directions on back of bag are easy to follow.

I have a notorious "dead zone". It doesn't grow much of anything but all weeds appear to do well. It is a narrow place between a privacy fence and the north side of the house. I have planted grass seeds coated with fertilizer that was guaranteed to grow. It didn't. It gets sun and rain although maybe not as much as all the rest of the lawn but to no avail. It is not short-changed by shade from trees or other logical impediments. It seemed there was nothing I had not tried but when I saw this Scotts Turf Builder, it seemed a possibility there was a chance it could remedy the elusive problem. I have no idea how long it takes to see an improvement but for now, the weeds have been sprayed and the wait begins. The instructions show only raking the Turf Builder in and smearing the grass seed around initially. Often, we have some hard rains and even though the land there is level, I see some washing take place. All we have here is sand and it is March. The temperature has been in the mid to high 80s and everything else is growing nicely. I just wonder if the seed and fertilizer should be deeper than a garden rake does it.

I don't know if my pictures are clear enough, but this bag consists entirely of tree bark in various stages of decomposition. There is no soil/dirt in the mix. It will eventually decompose completely and settle significantly. Your grass will not be able to root in this mix. I understand there is some decomposing matter in top soil... but not 100%. I went and purchased 2 bags of true top soil today. They are significantly heavier in weight because they contain actual dirt. This is not top soil and I do not recommend.

Expected soil. This looks like ground up bark. One area where I put it has some weeds growing where there weren’t any before. What is this stuff?
