I’ve been using a Skip cordless drill for years, but needed something with a little more power to drill through some solid doors to change out door knobs. Found this corded drill and it had more than enough power to drill through with ease and at a price that can’t be beat. Perfect drill for light and heavy jobs for the professional or weekend warrior.
Purchased this skil 1/2 drill a few days ago, was pleasantly surprised at how hefty it is, has plenty enough power for this DIY homeowner, For the amount of time I will need this tool I don't need a high end mechanics drill, I am very satisfied, both with the performance and certainely the Price of this skil drill,
Needed a more powerful drill to drill 1 inch holes in many tree stumps. My 3 amp drill just didnt have what it takes. Bought this and BOOM! It was like drilling in butter! Half the cost of other drills with same features and a great warranty when registered.
Awesome drill! I got it because my old drill/driver wasn't powerful enough for my current project using thick, treated lumber. Also I have tiny, arthritic hands and carpal tunnel and that extra handle gave me great, SAFE control and minimal vibration. Note that this drill is heavy but because you can put the handle in any position, and I was drilling downward, so I tightened it Perpendicular to the handle, instead of holding the drill like a machine gun as shown in the photo on the box--it was GREAT! Setting it up like that allows you to handle the drill safely and it doesn't feel as top-heavy. I had this tremendous "I am woman, hear me ROAR" moment when I was done with my project!
Skil makes great hammer drills. they work great and are durable. it looks like the newest ones are now 7.5 amp. I have purchased more than one. no problems. an old name brand that I trust.
Powerful drill! Similar to my Milwaukee drill I used to have. Though the trigger is not sensitive enough or I have to learn how to press it slower to get it to go slower as it wants to go full speed on me. Still worth having for the price.
This drill has the power I was looking for, as well as the chuck size I needed. The stabilizer handle is not what I was hoping for. It does not stay in place and caused bruising and injury to my wrist. I will not be using the handle anymore. Also, the unit is very heavy and I was disappointed that it did not come with a carrying case. I do like the convenient key holder.
First impressions: a good, powerful drill for occasional home garage use. I bought this tool specifically to drill some 5/8" holes into 1/4" plate steel...which it did very nicely. My only complaint, however, after the first couple uses is a big one: It's impossible to get the side assist handle tight enough to prevent it from slipping under load. It's a clamp-on handle with a single tightening bolt...meaning the only thing holding it in place is basically friction. This seems a rather poor design for an otherwise great power tool for the money.
Pretty nice for $30. The handle could be made of aluminum along with larger grooves for the neck and handle sleeve to prevent slipping. I like the sturdiness of a keyed chuck, but having an adjustable clutch for driving screws to a desired depth would make it worth a whole bunch more. But for drilling large holes and my use of it with a garden auger bit to mix soil and dig holes for plants is ideal with the powerful 7 amp motor.
Drill received was not the Model listed. Seller did not give choice just shipped with no explanation.
