This volcano kit was a lot of fun for my kids. They enjoyed mixing the colors and painting the volcano in their four favorite ones. They also had fun watching it erupt. One thing I wish I had done different though was making the mold in advance and letting it dry before we wanted to use it. Overall, this is great kit and the fact that you can reuse it makes it a winner.
The KidzLabs Volcano Making Kit brings science and fun together. It really works too! We had a great time assembling and painting the volcanic mountain, and then adding the ingredients to watch the “lava” flow. It was easy to do. I would recommend adult supervision with this set for kids younget than 13. I think it's a perfect activity for families to do together. Kids are naturally interested in science and how things work. This set explains how ingredients act when mixed together to make the volcano erupt. It's a bit messy but very fun. A neat project that is great for elementary or middle school kids.
It is all about the science. I attended my nephew's science fair last year and noted that there were a lot of projects using volcano. It was smoky in the hall back then. I knew these volcano erupted! I showed the kit to my kid and asked her to learn from it! Oh well, to start, thanks to the instruction menu. It shows step by step, to set up the volcano. First set up the volcano mold, upside down, then tie it to the rubber band. Placed the eruption chamber in. Then placed it on an alumnimum foil wrapped flat cardboard. Then mixed the two bags of plaster mix into a mixing bowl (self provided), and added water and stirred it to a smooth paste. Then poured it into the mold. Left the plaster to set in for about 24 hours. This will set up the erution channel / canal. Once hardened then removed the pieces. Turn the volcano over and painted the volcano, if one wanted to. We skipped the step. Then added baking powder in (with a drop of paint, so looked like lava) and then added vinegar. The reaction then started and now it erupted. Fun, but do it outdoor. Clean up is also part of the fun.
This is so awesome. Very simple to follow all the instructions and clear to understand. Very quick to put together. It came with everything you need to build the volcano and to make it work. Great for kids that like science and experiment. The size is adequate not big at all.
This is my review on the Volcano Making Kit. This is a fancier way to show how the volcano works, just like when I was in school. We built one out of mud and this one is a lot less messier. Kids love this project and love to learn how these things work, plus it's very educational. These would be handy if the teachers will let you use these for bonus points in science classes. I think they are more suitable for kids in 3rd through 7th grades. Neat project!
My kids had a lot of fun with this explosive bubbling volcano. It was really messy when creating the volcano but it was so much fun. The baking soda mix brought the lava to life and my kids were amazed and kept requesting for more lava to flow out. It taught them STEM techniques by seeing individual items combining to create something amazing. This puts science to life in a fun and knowledgeable and educational way.
Kidz Labs VOLCANO MAKING KIT is great for hands on experiments. Only requires vinegar and baking soda which are simple everyday household elements. Easy to set up! A must have for the reasonably priced. Will recommend to family and friends. I like kids lab products. No brainer!!!! Science is fun!!!
We all like scientific chores and this fell right in the middle of things. It was fun and educational. The whole family enjoyed putting it together. It isn't very complicated but you will need to be focused to have things work good. The item itself is good.
This 4M Kidzlabs Volcano Making Kit is actually pretty cool. It comes with everything that you need to make and paint your volcano. You will need to have your own baking soda and vinegar for the “eruption”. Assembly was very easy and quick. We did have some trouble with the plastic form not fitting together tightly. I got some duck tape and we taped the gaping areas as best as we could. The kit comes with rubber bands that hold the mold together, but there were still gaps. We mixed the plaster together and poured it into the mold. It did still leak, but the plaster was thick enough and started hardening quick enough that very little leaked out. (See pic) It took about 25-35mins. For the plaster to completely harden, and then we removed the mold and it was ready for painting. We let the volcano dry for about 10 mins after painting and then we got everything ready to make it “erupt”. We added the baking soda and then the vinegar and white foam bubbled up and spilled over the top. This was not an “eruption”, more like a spilling over. My 11yo son and his friend had lots of fun with this kit. I really liked that there was very little down time with the drying and we were able to complete the volcano from building , painting, and erupting in less than 1 hour. Great kit. My son loved it.
Please take a look at the pics on this so you recognize it is on the small side. Also, be sure to note that you there are ingredients you will need that are not included. As long as you are good with that its a cool learning piece that can be fun for younger kids.
