BetterBody Foods Organic Coconut Sugar, 24 oz

I wasn't certain what to expect when I ordered this Betterbody Foods Organic Coconut Palm Sugar, but since I am vegan I am always on the lookout for anything that is friendlier to the environment and I have read some good things about coconut palm sugar, so here goes. On the first day I tried it, I made some hot spiced cider and used the coconut palm sugar to sweeten the drink. Wow! This has a little bit of a deeper taste. It is absolutely sweet enough to compare to real sugar and it lands differently on the palate by way of texture...this stuff is like velvet, it actually makes whatever you add it to very velvety and smooth. I then made vegan sir-fry, sweet & sour chik'n with rice. That was perfectly sweetened with the coconut palm sugar and the texture stayed the same after the sweet & sour was reheated. Finally I made vegan brownies with walnuts. The coconut palm sugar gave the brownies an added dimension and they were delicious! Great stuff! I am definitely a fan of Betterbody Foods Organic coconut palm sugar now!

What pulled me to try this coconut palm sugar was its organic product. Just simple none fat, lo calorie alternative to so many sweeteners out there. The product is packaged in a re-sealable screw top container. This makes my life so much easier. It lets me be able to use what I need and save some for later. There is a light toasty smell to this sugar. Even though there a few lumps, they easy are loosened. There is a fine grain to the product, with make it easy to dissolve. The taste is slightly nutty with a hint of sweet. Over all I got a good deal for the price.

Hi, I used a few teaspoons in my morning tea and was surprised the taste was not sweet at all. Once the sugar dissolved in the hot water, doesn't really have a smell. My tea smelled like tea. I did notice it will change the flavor and taste of your food item. Not by much, but you can tell the difference. This is not traditional sugar. Next, this sugar is Certified Organic... The taste is light, the color of the sugar is similar to brown sugar but taste totally different. Note: the caloric intake from this sugar is similar to regular sugar. Based on 2.5 tsp/40 calories compared to 1 tsp/16 calories for regular sugar. However, this sugar contains calcium, iron and potassium in small amounts per serving. Whereas, regular sugar contains none of the above. Not bad at all!

I received this product free for reviewing purposes. I have regularly used white sugar for forever and after using this product I'm switching! I am definitely concerned with the glycemic index and the way processed sugar can impact my blood sugar, insulin resistance, spare tire development and all things along those lines. I'm not a big fan of artificial sweeteners like Splenda and Stevia so I usually just drink tea and coffee, both hot and cold, without any sweetener at all. I love herb and fruit teas as well as iced coffee and really missed having the hint of sweetness white sugar gave the drinks so I decided to try this coconut sugar in my beverages. All I can say is WOW this sugar is ridiculously delicious and does not over power the natural flavor of the drinks I make. NOW, instead of being happy to have an OCCASIONAL sweetened glass of tea, I want to brew and sweeten pitchers of my favorite beverages and drink them all day long, which I know would negatively affect all the health benefits I'm setting out to preserve. I've also found it is great in baking which is one the things I loved to do but had stopped since I could not find I good replacement for white sugar in my recipes. So my official review is that I am very happy that I have found such a delicious replacement for white sugar.

When I opened the coconut palm sugar box, the smell inside of the box has the scent of the palm and not really the coconut. I tried to mix this coconut palm sugar with my coffee. I only need to put two spoons, provided inside the box and it was already very sweet but the taste was weird because I expected the coconut taste but it was more the taste of the palm with a light after taste of coconut, which I wasn't used to.

When the Betterbody Foods Organic Coconut Palm Sugar arrived, it had all hardened so I needed to break it up before I could spoon it out, even though it had a seal. Basically, every time you go to use it, it reclumps and hardens. It's definitely different from your typical sugar. I ordered it for a healthier alternative to adding sugar to my morning coffee. I have not baked with it yet, and I am hoping that cooking it in something will give it a better taste. To me – it tastes burnt! I can taste the difference in my coffee and cannot get used to it. One thing I do not like about the Betterbody Foods Organic Coconut Palm Sugar is how much potassium and sodium is in a serving. If you take certain diuretics, for example, potassium levels are monitored carefully. I have to watch my potassium intake so I will not be using this sugar as my daily coffee substitute. I will try baking with it since in many ways it is healthier than white sugar; however, if you have potassium or sodium medial issues – read the label! Like everyone else, I was trying to look for a healthier substitute for my coffee, but alas, I like more coffee more than I like the coconut palm sugar!

The sugar is hard and looks discolored! I'm afraid to use it although it has an expiration date of 6/2027. I've never purchased it looking the way it looks nowexpired. It looks hardened as if it is old and already expired. I had to hit it against my countertop in my kitchen to try to loosen it up a bit. It cost too much for me not to use it! A refund would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I gave this one star because it is rock hard. I haven't used it yet but will have a update when I use it

The product received was not correct. I received coconut PALM sugar and not coconut sugar. The ingredients displayed here are also not the same as the product received.
