This coconut sugar is less lumpy than other brands and doesn't cake up or harden as readily. I always remove the sugar from the plastic container and store it in a glass jar, and it's ready to use without much fuss at all. It has a strong taste and aroma characteristic of coconut sugar, which adds a pleasant something extra to baked goods. It is low glycemic, which is helpful and healthier than cane sugar. This coconut sugar dissolves rapidly in coconut milk for desserts, and is well-liked by baking yeast (the yeast actually proofs faster with this sugar and rises more). This brand keeps the price down for a decent amount of product.

Hi, I used a few teaspoons in my morning tea and was surprised the taste was not sweet at all. Once the sugar dissolved in the hot water, doesn't really have a smell. My tea smelled like tea. I did notice it will change the flavor and taste of your food item. Not by much, but you can tell the difference. This is not traditional sugar. Next, this sugar is Certified Organic... The taste is light, the color of the sugar is similar to brown sugar but taste totally different. Note: the caloric intake from this sugar is similar to regular sugar. Based on 2.5 tsp/40 calories compared to 1 tsp/16 calories for regular sugar. However, this sugar contains calcium, iron and potassium in small amounts per serving. Whereas, regular sugar contains none of the above. Not bad at all!

I wasn't certain what to expect when I ordered this Betterbody Foods Organic Coconut Palm Sugar, but since I am vegan I am always on the lookout for anything that is friendlier to the environment and I have read some good things about coconut palm sugar, so here goes. On the first day I tried it, I made some hot spiced cider and used the coconut palm sugar to sweeten the drink. Wow! This has a little bit of a deeper taste. It is absolutely sweet enough to compare to real sugar and it lands differently on the palate by way of texture...this stuff is like velvet, it actually makes whatever you add it to very velvety and smooth. I then made vegan sir-fry, sweet & sour chik'n with rice. That was perfectly sweetened with the coconut palm sugar and the texture stayed the same after the sweet & sour was reheated. Finally I made vegan brownies with walnuts. The coconut palm sugar gave the brownies an added dimension and they were delicious! Great stuff! I am definitely a fan of Betterbody Foods Organic coconut palm sugar now!

These weird combinations always peak my interest and so did this sugar. I was most intrigues to find out what a coconut palm was. I thought there would be an after taste to this sugar but surprisingly it didn't. Had it with my coffee and it tasted great.

What pulled me to try this coconut palm sugar was its organic product. Just simple none fat, lo calorie alternative to so many sweeteners out there. The product is packaged in a re-sealable screw top container. This makes my life so much easier. It lets me be able to use what I need and save some for later. There is a light toasty smell to this sugar. Even though there a few lumps, they easy are loosened. There is a fine grain to the product, with make it easy to dissolve. The taste is slightly nutty with a hint of sweet. Over all I got a good deal for the price.

My first purchase of this item. I tried it in a cup of green tea with lemon. I could taste the coconut. As photographed, the brown color helps to darken the tea but the flavor in total is not bad. Sweetness level is about a 3 out of 5. Pricier than a 5lb bag of sugar.

When ordering this product the famous phrase "I just assumed" showed its ugly head again. I just assumed the price on cyberspace and the price at the brick and mortar store would be the same especially if I am picking it up at the store but it was a quarter more when ordering on the Internet. Their answer was "we can't do anything about the price". Of course they could have. Instead of "can't" they should have said "won't".

Arrived with a weird consistency, more like almond flour with huge chunks in the container. Normally it's like brown sugar but this time something was weird

This s is not supposed to expire til next Sept 2027 it is awful I just opened it and it like a rock. So unfortunately I cannot give you any information on taste. But I can't tell you this when I open it up. It smelled so ranted that my son said if you put that in my food, I am not eating it. It stinks.

This was my first time buying coconut sugar and the last. It was grainy and kinda bitter, nothing like any sugar or substitutes I used. This was the only new ingredient in my cake , which gave me diarrhea. I understand that the body sometimes has to adjust to new substances introduced. It didn't mix well with butter and wasn't sweet at all. Plus my cake took on that weird brownish color. Maybe if you're looking for a healthier less sweet option this is your thing but not for me.
