This was amazing! I didn't make traditional beef birria because we don't eat beef, but I put 3 packets in with a 3 lb pork tenderloin pressure cooked for about 40 mins let it natural release. We've been paying for birria ramen from a food truck for $12 a bowl. I can make probably 8 bowls for $30 so happy to find this!!
I love authentic birria, but it takes a long time, and is quite expensive. I was looking for a cheaper, quicker option. I mixed the beef stock with the packet, put about a quarter cup in with my ground turkey, let that sit for a bit. Added more water to 'consome' with onion and cilantro. I was very surprised at how good this was, definitely buying it often and will thoroughly enjoy the faux but very tasty 'birria' a couple times a month.
far cheaper, easier, and quicker prep than from scratch. simply cube 1 lb meat, stir in packet to coat the meat, pour in can beef broth, and cook. I cooked all day in crockpot since I do not have pressure cooker, and added tbsp apple cider vinegar. Great in quesabirria.
the price of these is amazing. especially for the flavor that comes with it! will be buying these from here on out instead of buying birria bombs that are fairly expensive. these are a definite yes!!! buy them. 1 pack per pound of your meat! buy buy buy!
Okay let me put you on to something. Sear you Meat Chicken, Beef , Pork your choice. My family loves Chicken breast. after you sear you meat, add to a Crock pot yes Crock pot. Add your Cut up onions and what ever seasoning you like. We also add the Birria Bomb, use broth %26 a little water. we cook ours all day. You can cook on high but after an hour slow cook it for a few more hours. Thank me later!!
I usually make my own birria but I purchased these for when I don't have enough time to cook and blend everything and I will be purchasing again. My whole family really enjoyed dinner! I seared 2 lbs of chuck roast %26 dissolved 2 packets into beef broth. Pour it on the meat once seared and cook it on the stove top for 2 hours. House smelled amazing.
I actually used this to make jerky - it smelled amazing in my house while it was cooking - and it gave it such a delicious flavor. There was a really good amount of seasoning in the packet, it would easily have worked for a big roast or something. I love birria and I didn't expect a ton from a seasoning packet but it really surprised me. If you want birria flavor without having to deal with all the seasonings and spices - this is a great option.
I've bought 3 different types of birria seasoning. The bomb, the kit and this packet and seem to all have the same seasoning. This is the cheapest but I still had to add chipotle sauce and peppers and red wine vinegar and beef bullion and cumin and cinnamon. It's worth the price if you don't mind adding more seasonings to your taste.
i never had this product. i think i had different expectations than reality. ive been seeing these newer tacos and thought maybe this would give a quick introduction to it. i just wanted to try it before going to a restaurant and order these types if tacos. i dont know what i did wrong, i think rechecking the directions of how i used it i used it as a slow cooking broth with a steak thinking marinated steak??? the meat just was tough, reason i might had unrealistic expectations. i am willing to try again the taste seems ok. but i have nothing to compare it to...so. cost seems good, compared to multiple spuces and the process to get to the broth solution. time, i simmered that steak for 3 hours, it was still tough. cant wait to try again. would i recommend. sure. just have realistic expectations.
I was so excited to give this birria seasoning a try after years of us getting the birria special at our local Mexican restaurant and my family begging me to make some at home. I wouldn't do the birria bombs bc they are just so expensive, so I was delighted to see these better goods seasoning packs for $1.37! I shopped for the roast, made homemade guacamole, pico de gallo, and queso…all of which came out perfect! When the pressure cooker went off, and I opened the lid - it hit me. The smell of cinnamon was STRONG! And I'm not one to complain about seasonings or flavor bc I use shelves full of seasonings that I love and use daily! But this was very overwhelming. Nonetheless, we still decided to try it. After all, I spent over $20 on the roast and seasoning packages alone! I couldn't even force myself to eat this, and my husband and daughter tried a bite, which my husband immediately spit out and my daughter took a second bite to “just be sure” and she confirmed also that she, her words, “hated it”! In comparison to other reviews I read before purchasing, it was not too salty, had more flavor than just “cardboard”, and in my opinion the flavor profile was very diverse. Someone said it tasted like any other taco seasoning, and I have to strongly disagree with that. Maybe even with a little bit of cinnamon and cloves it would've been good, but the smell and taste in this packet after cooking was very disgusting and overwhelming. As I read other birria seasoning blends and searched a few homemade birria consume recipes, not one of them said to add cinnamon or cloves. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone. Unfortunately, Walmart, this one was a miss! 😭
