This is a perfect mat for the bottom of pool steps. It's size adequately covers the whole base, unlike many of the smaller ones on the market. It is great quality and we are very pleased with how this product is protecting our pool liner.

It's a large mat that is made to go under a pool ladder with stairs. It does serve this purpose. But algae galore since adding this mat and the stairs with steps. Algae grows on and under this mat and on the sides, behind, and on the steps even with chlorine stock treatments. The rest of the pool is clear water but the mat and steps attract algae and grow it. You'd have to unscrew and take out the ladder and mat at least 1x a week and scrub them and put it back to avoid algae issues. If I keep the ladder and mat out there is no algae issue.
