I love this electric hot water pot with tea infuser. The materials are of excellent quality — the parts which come in contact with the water are almost entirely glass and stainless steel. The instructions give the steeping times for different types of tea : white, green, black, etc. It enables a tea lover to use higher quality loose tea leaves instead of tea bags. One can make a small amount for a single person or a 7 cup pot. It heats water faster than any other electric pot I have ever tried and is also much faster than either a stovetop or microwave. It also has an automatic shut off, so there is no need to be watching it every second to make sure it gets turned off. All in all, terrific bang for my bucks. Highly recommended.
Every time I buy a more expensive one it goes out on me. They never last and they're hard to figure out and use. They may look nice but they're difficult and they don't last. I went back to this one because it's simple and I love how it's clear and you can tell where it is in the process by the color of the lights. It's so easy to read and it heats up super fast. Faster than the others at 1700 Watts. I like how it automatically keeps it warm for an hour you don't have to push a button or anything. It's just easy and simple. It's one I can rely on.
I love being able to set the temp to what I desired. It stays at temp for 1 hour. When filling with water, I can have it boiling within 3-4 minutes. The outside is easy to read and efficient. For older adults, it feels heavy to lift when filled completely. I just fill it half full and it’s easily held without too much weight. It only takes moments to enjoy a hot beverage.
I purchased this electric kettle from Walmart.com about 6 months ago and so far it has been a great purchase! I like the capacity, the efficiency and durability. The only issue that I have experienced with this purchase is the fact that the tea infuser accessory, ( the reason why I bought this particular model) is very fragile and I don’t think it is going to last very long. Otherwise the Chefman Lightning Electric Kettle is just perfect for my needs!!!
This kettle is perfect. It’s small enough to be portable, has enough volume (1.8 liters or about 2 quarts) to work for a party, and has a minimum water amount of 500 ml (maybe 20 oz) so it’s not super wasteful if you’re just making some tea for yourself. The thermostat actually works, and the adjustable temperature is ideal for tea nerds. You can adjust it in 5 degree increments from like 180 to a full boil at 212. The keep warm feature isn’t super reliable, plus or minus 5 degrees or so, but it’s close enough and the handle displays the actual temperature.
The kettle was more than we expected. The options for varied temps in addition to a quick boil which is great for instant foods. We like that the kettle keeps the water warm until the next time we need it. We are all day avid tea drinkers and the pot was exactly what we needed. The price from Walmart was $20 cheaper than one of the largest local contributors.
As a tea lover, a good kettle is essential. I thought it time to retire my trusty Hamilton Beach for something more customizable. This kettle has a mode to set the exact temperature of the water you want. Perfect for the more delicate teas. Is it as fast as my 240v kettle that I bought out the UK that I installed an outlet for? No, but it is fast for the 120v class of kettles.
I think the product is good. Biggest issue I had is I made an assumption that I could set temperatures below 160. Say, for example… When my wife bakes some things, she’s looking to hit target temperatures. The pictures had me believing I could more or less set whatever temperature I wanted up to 212. The pictures show 120, so I made an assumption and don’t dog enough to verify the info. 160 is the lowest it goes. While it will work for getting water at an approximate temperature more easily? It’s not exactly what I expected. Good product. I’m using it daily. I’d just say, make the photos a little more clear.
This is my first kettle, so how its weight compares to others I'm not sure, but this kettle is a little unwieldy. However it gets the job done pretty well so I'm not complaining. Overall construction is good. Turns out the light ring along the bottom of the kettle has come in more handy than the gimmick I originally took it for. It's nice to be able to glance over and tell if the water is at temp or not. I like that there are 7 temperature settings (160, 165, 175, 185, 195, 205 and 212). Living at around 4,400 feet, water boils at app. 204F so I never need to use anything more than 205. Accuracy: 1) From some limited testing, it appears that the kettle cycles on and off roughly plus or minus 3F around the set temperature. So if the kettle is set at 175, the indicated temperature cycles between 172 and 178. The indicated temp is scaled at 2F increments. 2) The actual temperature as compared to a Thermapen ONE reads about 3-4F high. So when indicated temp was 162F, actual was 159F, and the kettle read 208F when actual was 204F (full boil). Ease of Use: When initially started the kettle will come up to, and maintain the temp. I haven't checked to see how long it will go until it automatically turns off. If the kettle is removed from the base it resets - if placed back on the base it will remain "off" (will not maintain temp), but the temp indication works. If you want to use more water later you'll have to touch the Start/Stop button again or come back to a kettle at a lower temp than you initially set. Don't expect to use this kettle for delicate pours. While you can get a small stream of water when dispensing, with the weight and handle placement it tends to dispense more quickly. I mention this because I would NOT recommend this if you are making pour over coffee where you want a small steady stream. Time to Temp: I took 6 minutes to heat 6-cups of water (1.5L) from 64F to boiling. If you are only heating a small amount of water (around a cup) the microwave might be faster - especially since you have to heat a minimum of 2 cups (0.5L) per the manufacturer. One other item I just noticed - when doing the accuracy testing I had the lid off. When timing I had the lid on. With the lid on, the kettle built up some internal pressure and was able to reach 212F. Due to the vigorous boil and level of water in the kettle, a small amount of steam and water was sprayed from around the edge of the lid instead of exiting the kettle through the spout like I expected. Oh and by the way, while the glass sides and lid of the kettle to become very hot, the bottom of the base and handle remain cool so I don't feel uncomfortable placing the hot kettle on my counter.
I love how this teapot looks, its size, and it is quick to boil water with desired, temperature settings. But on my first use making tea the infuser is very difficult to remove from the lid and a small piece of plastic holding the infuser in place broke off so now I can no longer attach the infuser to the lid. I did not return the teapot since it would be the same thing and decided to prepare my water and then just set the infuser into the pot to let steep. Not convenient at all. This lid needs to be redesigned for easier use to complement an otherwise great teapot!
