Looks great we are hiking with our dogs off leash as it lets us know where they are always at and it helps to scare off the bears, or at least we think so.

I have not used it yet, but the person who told me about the item I purchased, says it works really well and I'm still waiting on my bear horns

I take this all the time with me when I am hiking. I put it on my backpack to make sure bears don't come near me. Also works well around my campsite as a dinner bell.

We use the Bear Bell so our dogs can let us know when they need to go outside.

The bell is not super loud but certainly is audible and will alert any animals nearby that you are close. We use this in the U.P. Of Michigan in the early spring for black bears. You will feel better having this than not in a circumstance where you need it. I also carry bear spray during the early spring.

Not knowing which is better I ordered both this and Frontiersman's bear bell. The latter's magnet was poor and wouldn't silence the bell, this one did well. Very occasionally would the magnet slip and un-silence the bell but overall good quality. However, it is pricey, REI sells an inexpensive one!
