I chose this toasted sesame oil for the size of the bottle and the appearance. I was using this for an Asian inspired recipe. I had never heard of the Cookwell brand before, so I was taking a bit of a chance. Before adding the oil to my recipe, I took a small spoonful to test the strength of the oil. I was impressed with the lightness of this oil, and the mild taste of the toasting. I have had other toasted oils that almost had a burnt flavor to it, making it a bit tricky to get the right amount of flavor. This oil was easy to work with. It does come in a clear jar, so I keep it in a cool dark pantry to preserve the quality. I have not tried it as a vinaigrette or as a drizzle on appetizers, but in cooking it is amazing.
I only wish the bottle was larger. Great oil for pan cooking. Gives a deep, bold, sesame taste to appetizers, tomatoes and any of your favorite Asian inspired dishes. Review wants me to mention blood pressure, not sure why, guess this is a healthy alternative to other oils. I just really enjoy using it in all of my Asian inspired dishes.
I cant think of anything bad to say about it. I love the taste. I use it in various recipes. It is a very good value with a very good flavor. I've never cooked in it, so I can't speak to that. All that said, I also haven't tried many sesame oils, so I have no baseline for this kind of oil as a comparison. If you want a sesame oil, it is worth trying.
I love this oil. I use it almost every day. It taste great, The bottle has a screw on top and under that a plastic top you could pop out if you want, but I leave in because it helps keep oil from making a mess every where. it lowers your cholesterol, triglycerides and raises your good cholesterol. I fist only used it to make Chinese but now I use it for other dishes too.
As a single person living aloneI often find myself in need of a quick easily prepared meal. I have found that I can combine water, chicken ramen, frozen broccoli florets, and canned chicken in a 4 cup microwave safe cintainer with a vented lid and the microwave does the rest. I drain it andfinish it with 1 Tbsp of sesame oiland 1 Tbsp of g.v. low sodium soy sauce. and I have a hearty satisfying dinner in under 10 minutes.
Great taste and quality, decent price as well. Great for making Asian dishes. I used it to make a beef amd broccoli dish and it gave it Great flavor. It has a mil flavor, not overpowering like some brands can be.
This toasted pure sesame oil is wonderful in all of my Asian dishes. I especially love it in my cashew, fried cauliflower rice with mix veggie recipes. So flavorful.
Great for spicing up Chinese or other Asian dishes. Add this with some Teriyaki sauce and a tsp of creamy peanut butter to your ramen soup for a tasty noodles in peanut sauce experience!
Purchased Cookwell Toasted Sesame Oil for recipes. My usual brand was not available and out of stock. Cookwell brand appears to be of a darker color and has a much stronger smell than my usual brand. The taste in the recipes was more pronounced - I will cut back on the measurements for future recipes. The oil has a good taste and enhances the flavor of my Asian dishes.
This sesame oil does not have quite as much flavor as what I used to get from the oriental store but the price is significantly lower and it is almost as good. My opinion is it's the best buy for the money. When I want more sesame flavor I add toasted sesame seeds. Just put the seeds in a medium low heated skillet with a tiny bit of oil until light brown then smash the seeds with a heavy spoon.
