I can't stand it that salsa companies put sugar in the mix. No wonder Americans are so very obese and sickly. I understand that a little is needed to make the acid uniform. But.......... when I taste sugar it is obvious that the salsa is not authentic. I use NO sugar in my diet. It is poison and it kills the taste of the natural flavors. With this salsa, I can actually taste the tomatoes and other ingredients. I'm ordering a case online.
Great stuff. Beware though, may be too hot for most gringos.
Taste's like burning and that's about it. Other than that it lacks flavor if you eat it with chips, but good added to a meal.
My Walmart doesn't seem to carry El Pinto salsa anymore. I liked it because it doesn't contain vinegar but rather uses Citric Acid. Please bring it back. It is so hard to find a store-bought salsa that doesn't have vinegar!!!
After looking for a new salsa to buy, one that was hotter, and more flavorful then Pace, Herdez, or whatever other big name brand puts out, I decided to give El Pinto a try. Nice label that attracted my eyes. All Natural prefix on the bottle was a definite purchase. So far I've only tried two of three of the flavors El Pinto sells at my local walmart. Hot>Roasted Jalapeno Medium>Medium. The first one I tried was the Roasted Jalapeno Medium. I didn't want to fry my mouth on the Hot flavor. So opting for the medium I figured it wouldn't be so hot as the hot. Then after that bottle was gone, it was off to try the hot flavor next. What a complete and absolute joke this flavor is. HOT? PLEASE!!!!!!!! This one taste like straight water with the texture of salsas. No flavor what so ever. Hot even a hint of being hot. NOT EVEN on close to mild but on par with water. I'm not a fire breather neither. I can't even handle a habanero. PEPPERONCHINI'S are hotter then this salsa! When salsas have the hot label on them, I expect them to be hot. If I were to compare this to another salsa on hottness, I'd say it's as hot as Herdez's Mild variant. I however, do favor the El Pinto Roasted Jalapeno Medium variant. That one is hotter then the "hot" flavor this review is for. After a while of eating that one for one sitting like eating some tortilla chips with it, I start to get used to it and it no longer becomes hot. I'd like to try the Chiplote Medium El Pinto sells now. My local walmart doesn't carry it though.
