Great charcoal for the price. Grabbed a bag for a spur of the moment grilling day. It was easy to order online and pick up the same day since I ordered it very early (like 6 am) and it was ready by 11 am. Easy to light with a charcoal chimney or just stacking with a lighter cube. Good level of consistent heat as well for a while. Will use this to start up a smoker for some brisket as well.
Have used this type of charcoal for grilling many times before, and I like it better than the briquettes. Don't know if it changes the flavor or not, but reminds me of fonder times cooking over a campfire. Definitely my go-to grilling option, whenever it's available.
The product was a good value, imparted no unpleasant taste and was in a convenient sized package. The contents were highly irregular in shape, with some large chunks as well as many small to medium sized chunks. The charcoal started easily, burned well and produced a good heat to cook on.
my bags was all broken up into small pieces instead of large and medium lumps like I'm used to. Very disappointed because this is my favorite brand and kind of charcoal.
The lump charcoal was closer to charcoal dust than lump charcoal. Charcoal dust does not make for a very good barbecue. It seems like the items that are picked from the store are the ones that no one will purchase so they just bring them straight to your house. I will never order an item that I need from walmart.com in the future. The photos are the contents of the bag as I poured it into my grill.
Too many small pieces. Very few “lumps”, mostly chips. Very disappointed as I have bought this brand in the past. Will not burn consistently with mostly chips and dust. Maybe just the two bags that I bought this time.
These coals took an hour to get them to burn. And time you put food on it the fire fizzled out. Worst coals I've ever used. Making for a terrible celebration, and the meat ending up in the oven. Will never buy again , take my advice or you'll regret it.
Ended up spending 45 minutes cleaning charcoal out of my hopper when i realized it had garbage and rocks in it. I dont even know what the fiber is. I'm assuming fiberglass because it didnt burn. Glad to know that was in my food. Avoid this.
Bits and pieces. So small, they fall thru the charcoal grate. Of no use. And I bought 3bags. Going back to royal oak.
If it were possible to put "zero" or "minus", I would do it. This is not coal, but some kind of dust - there are no large pieces. It does not burn and there is absolutely no heat from it. I will never buy this coal again
