I'm a single mom and over the years, I've taught myself to take care of as many projects projects as I can in order to save money, learn to take care of things myself and to teach my son car and home maintenance. When this product became available, I ordered it with a specific project in mind...I had no idea how addicting it was going to be!! I have been using it EVERYWHERE!! I have used it around pipes,, both indoor and outdoor, around my dryer vent to prevent critters from getting in through the gaps, I used it around my shed doors, all around the perimeter of my house where I saw gaps. I literally went "looking" for areas to use this product - I wanted to use the entire can at once because I felt using it at a later time might not be as easy as the first, especially once it has been exposed to air.
I bought a house 11 years ago. Ever since then I had gotten water in the basement when it rained heavy. I decided to try filling the area with Big gap filler. I finally have a dry basement! It filled the area up against the foundation and stopped the leak! I'm super happy it worked so well. Saved me a fortune.
I found a gap under my bathroom sink. When we bought our house it had a full remodel already. We had started to notice some less than perfect fixes in places you don't always look like under sinks and things. This was hidden behind a cabinet with drawers. But when I looked for my makeup I spotted it. It was a rather large gap around the sink pipes. And as anyone knows a gap in wallboard can mean escaping heat and entering cold air. So i decided this was a great place to give it a try. This stuff worked AMAZINGLY I just kept spraying a bit at a time till I saw it rising slowly out of the hole. It expanded to fill the gap well. I felt no more air coming from the hole. I was wondering if it was a one time use can or if it could be used again. Because there was quite a lot left in the can. This stuff quickly dried in the hose. And I didn't think it would be usable again. But I found some hints online that said to lightly tug at the dried material at the end of the tube. And it slid right out. Clean tube ready for use again. This stuff is a lifesaver as I do not know how to repair Sheetrock. And honestly it is out of sight so a beauty fix isn't necessary. I highly recommend this stuff for weather proofing gaps holes and small spaces.
This gap filler works really well for drafty windows, outside spots where water can get in and many other uses. I put some around my windows and outside water spigots. You only need a small amount because it enlarges the amount approximately 3 times. Great stuff Gap Filler turns into a dry foam and keeps out water and air. I also used it at the base of my walls in my garage to keep out cold air in the winter. Try this and it should reduce electric bills and you will save yourself some money.
I have used Great Stuff filler in the past, so I was happy to receive a can of the "big gap filler" from the Spark Review program. It seems to be very much like the original except that it appears to expand even more than the "original" product. I tried it out on a small portion of drywall in my garage that a mouse chewed open and it filled the fairly large hole very nicely. I will use the rest of the can to fill in some gaps in my old shed. Good product!!
I saw the great stuff big gap filler on the Walmart spark reviewer program. I decided to get it when I saw the gap filler expands to fill, seal and insulate gaps up to 3 inches. I have a gap on the underside of my porch roof where year after year wasps get up there and make nests. I decided to try this to fill the area.It was easy to spray in the gap with the long attachment hose that comes with it, Only a little bit goes a long way I ended up over filling it but when it was dry I cut the extra off with the razor and it was very easy to do.The cut portion does not take well to paint but it's in an area that no one really sees.I don't know how the uncut portions would paint. It's been in therefor over a month now and I've not had any wasps come back. Yay! This was the perfect fix for me.There still a lot left so I'm sure they'll be a lot other uses I could use this for.
This works to fill large gaps but be prepared for a mess. It works the same as the other Great Stuff formulas by expanding to fill gaps, but it drips if it's not on a flat surface. You have to use acetone to clean up until it has hardened (cured). After it has cured, you can sand it or use a serrated blade to remove any excess foam. And be prepared to lose a lot of foam if you don't have a large job because once the foam cures in the dispensing tube, you can't use it any more. It does what it's supposed to do well, though.
This is a very useful product. Perfect replacement for when the alternate would be a lot of calk. I used it to fill gaps in windows and was able to then sand and paint over it. I have used it inside the house so I am not sure if this can be used outside and will withstand extreme heat, rain or cold. Straw makes it easy to get to hard to reach surfaces. One thing I would like to mention is that the foam expands quickly and becomes big so this product is not meant to be used to fill small cracks.
The Great Stuff Big Gap filler does Just what it says it does! It fills the gaps! This can has filled the crap under my front door with ease and I've also been able to use it to fill the spaces around the lighting fixture holes in my garage and other various gaps to the outside of the house. It has surprised me how versatile this has been. Super easy to use and a little bit goes a long way.
The Great Stuff Big Gap Filler is really supposed to be used for big gaps. It expands exponentially after application...much more than competing products. After it dries, it can be cut down, basically carved, with a sharp knife or razor. Plan your projects carefully and apply the foam all at one time. Next day use is significantly less successful as the product very, very slowly comes out of the nozzle. Another good feature of this product is the color...light beige. Other competitors seem to always be bright yellow.
