GV crushed Pepper is my go to spice in my cooking, for Rice and Beans, fish, dips gravies, sandwiches, salads, and anything that needs a Kick of Heat. The grind is not too small but just right. I've always had to have my crushed red pepper flakes, a real Essential in my cooking.
I like these but it don't take much before you feel it. My buddy Lou L (you know who you are!) puts it on pizza and it don't even matter what kind, it could even be Hawaiian with pineapple on it and there he is just sprinkling away like it's nobody's business. I put it on scrambled eggs sometimes but only when Willa forgets to buy hot sauce. Speaking of Willa, she puts crushed pepper on cantaloupe sometimes for breakfast, but her granny used to sprinkle black pepper on watermelon so there you go.
USED AT THE TABLE You may think I'm crazy but, I add these to my Himalayan Pink Salt in my electric salt grinder, for added spice flavor. It works great. Just a hint of red pepper when I'm adding a little salt to some items. I'm thinking of adding more red pepper, as I started with 4:1 salt over red pepper by volume. I might have to do a separate grind of exclusively red pepper to get what I want. … Nuff Sayd
Just as good as the named brand. Decent heat and sprinkle well, great it already went through the grind process. Sometimes I put it on fruit for a bit of heat.
Great Value Crushed Red Pepper tastes incredibly flavorful. The smell when you unseal the container is just incredible. It smells fresh and adds wonderful flavor to dressings, meals, soup, just about anything.
Great Value's red pepper flakes are the same as the rest just less expensive so it's a no-brainer choice for me. All of them have too many seeds. I'd buy a brand thad had at least half the seeds if one was available—it's the pepper flakes I prefer.
Looks very fresh taste very fresh I use crushed red pepper on almost everything I make I keep it in fridge to keep it fresh it last longer so flakes don't get stale in cabinet
This is a new edition to my Great Value spice rack. If you look on my kitchen wall I have quite a collection that I use almost daily. Why pay a fortune for name brand? This was just as good in the recipe I needed it for.
tastes good, Put the ingrediant list back on the bottel!....bigger bottle would be helpful 3x the size please!!! and a reasonable price so I can buy something to use it on! And make it available to ship too!!! thanks!
I bought this product to use as a squirrel deterrent on my plants. The first thing I noticed is that the holes are just the right size to severely limit how much comes out of the shaker. I suppose this is a great feature, as most people wouldn't want their food heaping with pepper flakes - or would they? The second thing I noticed is that it's almost all seeds. Some people might like this, as that is where the majority of the capsaicin is (heat). However, I was expecting a product called crushed red pepper, to have...well, more crushed red pepper and less of it's unborn. I guess I should be happy, after sprinkling this on my plants, I'll have plenty of peppers by the end of the growing season that I can make my own crushed red pepper for next year.
