I bought these 'cause they're cheaper, of course, and happily discovered they're a bit better than the other name brand I purchased here before. I think the cylinder package helps keep the plumpness? I don't know but they smelled and tasted fresh and juicy. Is that a weird thing to say about a dried fruit? Still, yum.
These pitted prunes remain soft and moist right down to the bottom of the can, and even the kids will snack on them. They are every bit as sweet as the brand names and a lot cheaper. Great way to satisfy a sweet tooth with something healthy! I buy them often and have never found a missed pit!
I think these are perfect - the size and the flavor/freshness are great. I was getting Sunsweet brand that were, originally 18 oz but noticed with the last container purchased they were only 16 oz but the cost was the same - so was the size of the container - couldn't figure it out. Then, one day I happened to turn the container over and, low and behold, there was a huge dimple in the bottom of it - there went the extra 2 oz. Plus, when I first opened the container, there was a terrible chemical smell! I left it open for a few days and, while the smell/nasty taste did fade a little, it never went totally away. Thought maybe it was a one-time thing so purchased another container (on sale this time at Meijer) but nope, the same nasties - ugh! Tried this one - much more economical than the others, the whole 18 ozs and everything was good. Would definitely recommend this brand (I cut up a couple and toss them in salads and also uses some sliced on sammies - just a suggestion).
These prunes are imported from various countries the sizes may vary slightly. The good news is they are high quality and well-packaged. I really enjoy them, you get real value for the money. I like prunes and have purchased more expensive brands, but now I choose to buy these, as a preference.
I love that Great Value has not changed the name of good old prunes to dried plums. We don't call raisins dried grapes! These reasonably priced flavorful prunes were purchased online and delivered to my door in less than 48 hours. Will definitely buy again.
My favorite prunes, vary sometimes in size, but never quality. The skins are much less tough than the name brand kind. I eat 4 every morning with my meds, and it keeps me regular (if you know what I mean!) Great product
Can't live w/o them BUT the 1st prune had broken seeds in them so WATCH out! These sure aren't a name brand prune and this IS the difference between the 2. Be really careful with your TEETH! Forewarned.
These prunes are soft and sweet, equivalent to the SunSweet Bite Size prunes. Only difference seems to be that these come in a cardboard canister with plastic lid.
Great Value products are a great discovery. However, with this product, I found one pit in each of two containers. Now, I know that any minute I might find that in a container of Del Monte or White Rose or whatever, but I haven't yet. In fact, one of these was a broken-up pit. I put it in my mouth with the expectation that I could suck the fruit away easily, but instead I was picking about four tiny slivers (a little sharp) out of my mouth. Recommended: in serving, make a habit of stabbing several with fork rather than using a spoon or even your hand. So I feel that this feedback is important to other purchasers and (hoping) to Walmart. On the other hand, these are moister and plumper than White Rose and maybe even Del Monte (hard to remember) for an excellent price. They are at least as good as I recall having from any brand. So my 3 stars does not really mean "average"; it really means I just had to downgrade below a "good" or 4 stars rating because of the pits and, sometimes, sharp slivers.
the container was smashed and split and prunes laying in the bottom of the box. Same thing happened with last order had to throw them away. did request a refund this time. Cannot bring to the store since I am handicapped. The prunes themselves are very good and good value if you don't have to throw away. suzieq
