I buy these often. I think they measure up to that name brand that I use to buy. These are great in cookies, coating things like pretzels. I have grabbed a few when I want a little something sweet.
I like to have chocolate chips in the pantry at all times. It's just one of those comfort foods that you can do so much with. At the time of this review, grocery prices have gone way up. Walmart's Great Value brand has remained competitively priced enough, that I can still afford to buy chocolate chips for our household. These are delicious and good for snacking on, baking with, in pancakes, trail mixes and all of the things.
I really like these chocolate chips. I've used them in recipes that require melting such as the pumpkin chocolate cheesecake and Oreo truffles and they did great. We've used them in pancakes. We've used them in cake decorating. But the most famous way of using them in my family is in chocolate chip cookies. I like to make other kinds of cookies too, but somehow the chocolate chip cookies always win out as the favorite!
I usually look for price first, as chocolate in all it's forms is one of my family's major food groups! And we have a very large family. What surprised me when I tasted these chips was the great flavor, more distinctive and delicious than I expected. I have been buying Nestle's chocolate chips and I thought these were better.
On par with the name brand chocolate chips and a decent price. I have used these for years now and really don't see any difference in the quality of my cookies. The prices keep going up, but, so is the price of everything else, so “go figure”. At least, if I purchase the multi packs and have a large enough order, I can get it delivered free to my home saving me time, gas and some wear and tear on the vehicle. I hope y'all are having a great day today, and if not, there's always hope for tomorrow. 👍😀👍
I buy several different brands of chocolate chips at the holidays just to mix it up a bit when making candy and fudge. 12 ounces of chips and a can of sweetened condensed milk makes the best fudge. My kids always request it. Melt the chips, add the milk, put in a 8x8 and let it set up. If I remember I mix in a tablespoon of butter. I like to put walnuts or pecans in it, too. I've used these chips in cookies and other things, as well. They melt well and have good flavor.
I love prosciutto, but don't eat it often. No matter what brand you buy prosciutto is expensive for the amount of product you get. I really enjoyed this item and highly recommend it.
These chocolate chips are a pretty good value with the increasing cost of chocolate lately. Next time I'll purchase in-store though since they melted a bit when delivered.
Yes, this is a "great value", an economical price for the volume. However, I will say that compared to the Good %26 Gather (Target's house brand) semi-sweet chocolate chips, these fail. Here's why. The Good %26 Gather chocolate chips have a rich cocoa powder taste; these do not. My family decided to try the Great Value semi-sweet chocolate chips and since we had some Good %26 Gather semi-sweet chocolate chips on hand, we did a side-by-side taste test. The Great Value Walmart product is equally sweet, and the texture whether you chew or let them melt in your mouth, is true for a chocolate chip. But there is -- strangely -- no chocolatey taste to these, compared to Good %26 Gather semi-sweet chocolate chips. Both products use chocolate liquor (which is simply the pure, unsweetened liquid or paste produced by grinding roasted, hulled cacao nibs, containing roughly 50% cocoa solids and 50% cocoa butter), and have the same ingredients, and yet there must be some difference in the way these are manufactured to produce such a lacking chocolate experience. Target's product does not come in 24 oz bags; only 12 oz bags, for $3.89 each. That puts the 24 oz equivalent at a slightly higher price point than Walmart's product, but for my money, my family will stick with Good %26 Gather semi-sweet chocolate chips for baking and snacking, due to the very prominent chocolate flavor. I mean, that's kind of why you buy it in the first place. Walmart's product is a little like trying to eat chocolate when you have a bad cold. You can sort of tell it is sweet, the texture is like chocolate in your mouth, but... that's it. No chocolate flavor coming through. Walmart, love your prices -- do better on this one and I'll switch teams for my chocolate chips!
This is more of a delivery and notification review. The huge bag of chocolate chips was delivered while I was a few miles down the road having breakfast. I saw the delivery notification and said oh no, went home and found a melted blob of chocolate in a bag.
