L-Methionine, 500 mg, 100 Capsules, NOW Foods

I bought methionine to help increase serotonin levels naturally but was pleasantly surprised to realize I was breathing so much better. My wife has chronic sinusitis and she now takes it daily as well.

Something I couldn't find at my local co-op anymore and many online companies no longer carry.

I like to take L-Methionine along with Choline and Inositol. A while ago, I wrote a thorough review of L-Methionine under the Swanson label (You might want to check that review out.); however, for some strange reason, Swanson chooses to sell theirs only in bottles of 30 capsules. Since I take four a day, I was having to buy half a dozen bottles at a time. If there were not this alternative in a bottle of 100 capsules from NOW, I would have no trouble continuing to buy all those little bottles of 30. So that brings us to this product. I like it just fine. Quality, price, it's all good. I like to take L-Methionine for my hair, nails, skin, joints, and liver. I take 2 capsules with my morning batch of supplements that include 2 Choline & Inositol capsules, and I take another 2 with dinner, along with 4 Choline & Inositol caps. I have always liked this trio all together. Works for me.

I don't think I will ever go with out this supplement. I have been taking it for three years and it has help me a lot.

I am a senior male (~70) who is vegetarian and I use supplements to fill gaps in my nutritional needs. I like NOW supplements as I have used them over the years with good results. I got this supplement for the L-Methionine and, when I received it, only then did I realize it had the added Vitamin B-6. With a bit of online research I've learned that some recent studies show positive benefits from a large daily dose of B-6. However, there are also studies that suggest that long-term use (12-40 months) of a daily dose of an oral B-6 supplement, amounting to 100% to 600% RDA, can have serious detrimental side effects. Ironically, I have reason to believe that I may have been deficient in Vitamin B-6 and I plan to boost my intake through natural food sources (for which "There is no evidence of any adverse effect from consuming too much vitamin B6 in food." To get the L-Methionine I need, I have acquired the supplement (without B-6 or anything else) from another brand.
